"Boy if you don't- Hey!" Rip yelled after Jimmy.

Kayce sighed heavily, lowering his head. "Always a chase between those two." He mumbled, his deep brown eyes glimmering with exhaustion.

Elisabeth let out a soft huff through her nose. "You're tellin' me."

She rolled her shoulders a couple times before walking away from Kayce.

Something was going on with him, but she didn't know exactly what.

He was John's youngest child, so the pressure was all on him when it came to maintaining the ranch.

Since John had sent Jamie off to law school as a teenager, he had no hope of inheriting the place.

John had favorites when it came to his kids.

Kayce and Beth were his golden children, Jamie was cut off and Lee had been somewhere in the middle.

Elisabeth could easily tell because of how cold John usually was toward Jamie.

She walked up into the barn and let herself into Milo's stall.

"Hey big boy..." She whispered, running her fingers through the gelding's forelock.

"Didn't expect to see you here." A male voice interrupted her moment.

"Jesus fuck Ryan!" She hissed, her head whipping around to see him. The brown haired man laughed at her reaction.

"Don't fuckin' scare me like that." She mumbled.

"Ok fine. What're you doing here?" He asked, leaning against another horse's stall door.

"Avoiding work. You?"

He nodded. "Same thing."

She arched an eyebrow at him.

"Where's your man candy?" He asked, a playful smirk on his face.

"Working. Just like we're supposed to be." She replied.

Ryan chuckled. "Wanna go out for a ride?"

She shrugged. "Eh. Why not?"

He half smiled, ducking into Andorra, his bay mare's stall. He bridled her easily and walked her up to the mounting block, pulling himself up onto her back.

No saddle, just him and a bridle.

Elisabeth repeated the action and they walked their horses out of the stable.

Their hooves clacked against the concrete as they made their way towards the back of the main pasture. They could see the rest of the hands working out in the distance.

Rip stood up tall, the cowboy hat resting on his brunette head and the sunglasses balancing on the bridge of his nose. He turned his head, the silhouette of the pair and their horses coming into his view.

"Hey!" He called out.

Walker's head jolted up, Rip's sudden holler had startled him.

He looked on at what Rip was yelling at, a small smile creeping onto his face. 'That sneaky woman...' He thought.

"Where y'all goin'?" Rip yelled.

"Away!" Elisabeth called back.

"You're supposed to be working!" Elisabeth shook her head while Ryan chuckled to himself.

"So are you!" She shot back.

Rip shook his head. Walker half smiled.

'Thatta girl...' He thought.
