Chapter 12 - Back to Work

I'm on my final week in my one year leave of absence. And I am having mixed emotions about going back to the ship. It's been a while since I had this kind of feeling. The last of which was when I got to picked to play the lead role in a school play. I don't know why I am always feeling reluctant about something unexpected that comes my way. But this time it's very different. I am already expecting this. I will be away from my family for an unknown time frame. I couldn't get myself to wake up and just want to sleep all day with Honoka-chan. And yet for some reason, I feel very reluctant to go back to active duty.

My phone rings all of a sudden while I was still in dreamland.

I look at the number of the person who is calling me on the phone. It was not on my contacts list. It is an unknown number. I got the shock of my life as I hear the voice of person calling me. It definitely wasn't Odilyn or Arlene. Neither was it Eli or Nozomi. And it wasn't even Maki. It couldn't be Elinore as well. I decided to carefully get out of the bedroom and head downstairs to answer the person calling me on my phone.

Phone conversation between me and the unknown caller.:

Me: Doodz Fernandez speaking. May I know who is this?

????: "Hello Doodz. Do you remember me?"

Me: Shiela Marie Javier? How did you get my number? The only ones who knows my number are Elinore, Odilyn, Arlene, Cheryl, my wife, and her friends.

Shiela: "I asked it from Elinore. I'm just curious about you performing at that Japanese woman's concert here in the Philippines several weeks ago."

Me: Oh that. Well that's because she and I were co-workers at the resto-bar where you and the others saw me working. But I want to know what do you want from me.

Shiela: "I was wondering if you can help me go through the streets of Tokyo. After all you're now living in Japan."

Me: Sure! Why not? I still have a week to go before I head back to Okinawa.

Shiela: "You're going to Okinawa? What for?"

Me: In case you have forgotten about it. Remember when I attended our high school reunion even though I transferred to Otonokizaka High School.

Shiela: "Oh yes I remember now. You came to our reunion dressed up like Tom Cruise. And you told us about you being a naval aviator."

Me: Yup. So when can we meet?

Shiela: "How about tomorrow around 7:00 am.? Does that sound good to you?"

Me: Sure! Why not?

Shiela: "Great! Let's meet at the hotel where I am currently staying. It's near a school with a weird name. I think it's UTS or UDS or something."

Me: You mean UTX Academy right?

Shiela: "Oh yes UTX Academy. How do you know the name of the school?"

Me:  I have been there once with my wife Honoka-chan.

Shiela: "I see. So it's a date then?"

Me: Yeah. I'll see you tomorrow then. Goodbye Shiela.

Shiela "Goodbye Doodz."
