Sophie

-

"Ok, so what colour skirt? Red or pink?" Sophie held up the two options to her phone as she FaceTimed her best friend Rachel, who was currently suffering the 'worst hangover ever' after three for two drinks offer at the student union. Even if it was verging on 3pm on a Saturday afternoon.

"Which one makes your ass look the best?" Rachel muttered from underneath her pillow. Even though she was close to 200 miles away, Sophie relied on Rachel's advice for anything regarding nights out.

"I don't know. I've never really checked."

"Bullshit. I like the pink one, I think the black top and red skirt makes you look like a ladybug." Rachel was always so blunt with everything which made Sophie love her advice even more. Sophie couldn't trust Olivia with shit like that, she could leave the house wearing a toga and Olivia would still say she was looking good.

"Ok, so pink and black? The pink skirt is really tight though, I don't want everything out on show."

"So? You've been working on losing weight for like over a year now, celebrate it Soph!" Ever since Sophie started sixth form she had been working out more and eating a lot healthier than before. Although her body wasn't perfect, she felt so confident about her newly defined curves that she felt like she could wear anything and not be self-conscious.

Before Sophie could muster a reply, her phone buzzed with a new message.

jake:
be at mine at 5pm bitch - don't be late!

"Oh who was that?"

"No one." Sophie replied blankly. Although Sophie told Rachel almost everything, she didn't want her to make a big deal about Jake. They were just friends and she didn't want Rachel making it bigger than it needed to be.

"Don't bullshit me, Soph. I see you smirking in low quality. Is it that guy you've been sleeping with?" Sophie cheeks flared up. Rachel was blunt - but sometimes a little too blunt.

"Nope, just Jake from work."

"Does Jake like you?" Again, Sophie's cheeks flared up. Jake was her closest thing to a friend right now in London. Sophie was pretty sure everything between them, even the flirtatious banter, was completely platonic. Besides, Sophie wasn't even sure if he was straight.

"No, he's just a good friend. I'm going round to his to meet him, Grace and her boyfriend before we head out." Sophie had heard Grace speak about her boyfriend, but she had never mentioned his name, or shown Sophie a picture. Which was fine, she obviously didn't know Grace well enough to intrude. Sophie and Grace had been texting occasionally about tonight, but she didn't see them being anything more than work friends - not as close as her and Jake were anyway.

"Hmm, yeah I'm sure. Speaking about heading out, have you heard any more from that Ashton guy?" Sophie's stomach fluttered a little but his name rolled off Rachel's tongue. She bit down on her bottom lip to restrain herself from grinning like an idiot back at her best friend, and although she felt terrible - she had to lie.

"Nothing yet, he just text me their address earlier so we could meet them."

"I wish I was living the high life with you, Soph. You're only gone a month and you're already partying with famous people! When is it my turn?!" Rachel fake whined from underneath her duvet.

"Yeah, my life is so glamorous that I live with my sister and I drink Asda value vodka because I can't afford anything else!" Sophie ran around and stuffed her outfit for the night - along with another alternative - into a bag with her makeup and other accessories, and most importantly, her pyjamas. Since she was staying out of Olivia's hair tonight, Sophie didn't think Olivia would mind her taking her favourite bag to bring everything with her.
