Violent and vindictive,
those liars suggested
that he relent.
He murmured, "Yes."
but that wasn't what they heard.
And so,
fair skinned and adequately weathered
those villains stood
among blood-colored courtyards.
Beating their chests,
they waited for better times
and braver men.
that other writhed.
One eye went blind
and the other - loyal,
murmured
"I do hear you."
