Poetry is uneven
reading or writing it
dealing with it
sets me off my feet
I sometimes throw liquor
or sex around it and hope it's well suited
I liken it to things
without its likeness or like of it
to see if it adds what I've been missing
I need success —not
sex or songbirds or anything I have
or haven't had
It's a pity that I love it anyway
