The next day Harry's good mood didn't falter. The group had Sidemen channel filming all day. It was the first time in a while that the entirety of them had the same schedule and everyone felt giddy. They loved each other, after all. If it were up to them, they'd spend every day together.
Harry had managed to catch a reasonable amount of sleep the night before, still struggling to actually fall asleep, but he didn't wake up multiple times during the night for a change. And after a proper breakfast he felt refreshed and ready for the day.
The first half of the day went really well. Nothing had gone wrong with bookings or recordings, and the boys felt more energized then ever. Harry even got multiple praises for his sharp and witty jokes. He hadn't felt this good and relaxed in ages.
But of course, of course, it was all too good to be true. Because when he checked his phone during their first break, he saw he had three missed calls from his brother. His heart immediately dropped to his stomach.
His brother never called.
It wasn't a secret to the other boys that Harry and his older brother didn't have a good relationship. They used to, when they were kids. But that changed when Harry made the decision to become YouTuber and move out to London, away from Guernsey. His brother's attitude became even nastier when the Sidemen had started to gain a following and became known to the public.
He's just jealous, was what his parents would always say, he wishes he did a lot of things differently when he was your age. He carries a lot of regrets.
And how was that Harry's fault?
Right, it wasn't.
"Guys?" Everyone looked up. "My brother called. Is it okay if I call him back real quick?"
Josh frowned, just like Harry realising that it was odd for the older male to call, but he nodded. "Sure. Is everything okay?"
Harry shrugged. "I don't know."
Fishing his water bottle out of his bag, he took a few sips while walking out of the recording studio. He made his way to one of the other rooms, relieved to find it empty, and sat down on the couch before dialling the number.
His brother picked up almost right away.
"Why didn't you pick up when I called?"
The annoyed voice reached Harry's ears almost painfully and he flinched.
"I'm busy right now. Is everything okay?"
"You're coming home next week, right?"
Harry frowned in confusion. "What?"
"For mum and dads wedding anniversary. You said you'd take the week off, discuss it with your mates and everything. That's what you said to mum."
Harry felt as if a bucket of ice water had been thrown over his body. Closing his eyes, he swore under his breath.
"Don't tell me you forgot, Harry."
He did. He did forget. Oh, he fucked up. His parents' thirtieth wedding anniversary was supposed to be a big one. His mum had been so excited when she showed Harry her plans for the venue. He had sworn he would be there to celebrate alongside his family. He was going to take it up with the boys as soon as he got home, that's what he'd said.
