One thing Baek Kyung learns from his time being engaged to Kang Soojin is that he should never make her clean up after his mess, no matter how simple it is.
He can piss her off, he can pin her against the wall, grab her collar, or curse at her, she won't care. But make her clean up after his mess? He's gonna die.
It was the day after they got engaged. No, scratch, the day after his grandfather forced him to be engaged with her.
Gosh what was his grandfather thinking? He was still in school. But he insisted. He said that his fiancé's family had agreed on their engagement. Well it's not like he could just say no to his grandfather's words. His words are orders, and his orders are to be followed.
So he met her, alone, over a dinner somewhere in London. It was after she moved here, so they met up in London after his grandfather sent his secretary to pick her up at the airport.
He didn't want to act nice to her. They met, they stared at each other. Gosh she was fiercer than he thought she would be. He thought his new fiancée would be someone softer, especially after the whole Seokkyung fiasco. Nope, he was wrong. His new fiancee was Kang fucking Soojin. Nothing soft about her.
He thought by glaring at her, she would be intimidated. She wasn't.
"Don't wish for a loving relationship. I didn't sign up for this shit" he told her.
"whatever. I'm not hoping for anything from you anyway"
He left her after that. He left, leaving his coat and phone for her to take care of. He thought she'd be fine by it, he thought she'd be the good girl who serves him well. How wrong he was. She did take care of his things. But there was a price he had to pay.
The next day she dug up informations about his past girlfriend. Not really, he was rejected and she chose that guy, Haru, over him. But the point is she wasn't supposed to know about her.
She read dan oh's infos like it was a book in front of him.
"Clean up after your own mess. Leave your things behind like that again, and your grandfather will know you're still chasing her"
That was her threat. He wasn't scared yet back then. The second time he enraged her was when he left his PE bag in the gym and told her to pick it up and bring it to him.
She did, but she also told her grandfather about the dan oh fiasco. His grandfather reprimanded him for that, threatening that he'll send her away if he misbehaves in front of Soojin again.
He still hadn't learned his lessons. He did that again, leaving her to entertain his guests on a party his family hosted in London while he slept his way through in his hotel room.
He didn't know what she did, but that was the thing that drove Soojin to provoke his grandfather to send Dan Oh faraway. That explains why she's in the states now, his gramps whisked her away.
He learnt his lessons then. He never left her to his mess again on purpose after that. But just before Christmas, while he was skiing somewhere in Austria with her family, he left his boards out in the snow. He didn't mean to leave them there, he only remembered about his boards in the morning when he wanted to ski again, but couldn't find his boards anywhere in his Austrian cottage.
He found out over breakfast that Soojin was the one who picked up his boards and gave them to his staffs. And that's when she gave him a creepy smile, although less creepy than the one she threw him earlier, and poured milk all over him.
"Leave one more mess for me to clean up for, and I swear to God I'm calling your grandfather to tell him you cheated on me with that whore Eun Dan Oh"
He froze after hearing her words. He wanted to grab her by the collar and told her to leave Dan Oh out of this, but that threat sends shivers down his spine.
He could lose a whole fortune if his grandfather hears that. He loves Dan Oh, but let's be real here. He knows Dan Oh chose Haru over him. She will choose Haru again and again. Heck, Haru's even a part of her agreement with his Grandfather. She goes away to the states, stay away from him, start a new life there, but on one condition, Haru will be there with her too.
He's been trying to let go of her for a while now, especially after she rejected him again over the summer when he ran away from home to the states to chase her and ask her to give him another chance. That explains why his grandfather had to drag his ass back to South Korea.
Losing her hurts. But losing his inheritance, that'll kill him. Above all, he might end up losing Soojin too. Not that he likes her, they just..... Clicked.
He hates her, yea. He hates this whole engagement thing, of course. But he and Soojin are able to coexist. And somehow he got used to her being around. He got used to her bickering, he got used to her complaining about things, he got used to her simply existing.
So, after giving it a thought, he calms himself down,
"Sorry. I won't do it again"
And apologized.
