CHAPTER TWENTY

It's my vacant period at andito ako ngayon sa classroom. Kean is now in the midst of his class habang ako'y nakaupo naman sa aking upuan at taimtim na nakikinig.

"When we say entrepreneurship it's the act of creating business or businesses while building and scaling it to generate a profit," panimula niya habang naglalakad-lakad sa loob ng classroom na nagtuturo.

"The more modern entrepreneurship definition is also about transforming the world by solving big problems. Are you guys aware that economics and entrepreneurship are like siblings?" tanong niya sa kanyang estudyante ngunit wala man lang ni isang nag-abalang sumagot.

"Ganito na lang, if you don't agree, raise your hand," he instructed at wala paring tumaas ng kamay. "Okay, so do you all agree?" tanong niya ulit pero wala paring sumagot dahil wala siguro silang kongkretong paliwanag. The one who dares to raise his or her hand will surely need an explanation to his or her answer kaya siguro nagdadalawang-isip silang sumagot.

"Tanong ko sagot ko," biro pa niya bago ito nagsimulang magsalita. Mahinang nagsi-tawanan ang kanyang mga estudyante.

"Entrepreneurship and entrepreneurs are considered as important drivers of economic growth because they contribute to the creation of new jobs, new employment opportunities, the emergence of new innovations, but also to the stimulation of competition and competitiveness. Ngayon, we will tackle both. When we are doing business, export and import are vital. Ang lesson natin ngayon ay medyo may kinalaman sa economics. Do any of you know what currency depreciation is?"

"Currency depreciation is the loss of value of a country's currency with respect to one or more foreign reference currencies, typically in a floating exchange rate system in which no official currency value is maintained."

"Precisely!" Kean replied.

"The advantage of this is that when a currency depreciates, the prices of domestically-produced goods decline relative to international prices. The exporting firms become more competitive and exports increases. Dahil dito, when exports increases, sabay din aangat ang ekonomiya nito. For that reason may mga bansa na talagang sinasadya ang pag depreciate ng currency nila to stimulate their currency. tulad nalang ng the growth of UK economy after the 1992 depreciation of the British pound."

I was honestly stunned by how flawlessly Kean can explain everything. Sanaol because for me, my subject is the worst! Napaka komplikado ng law. When you start answering a question, your answer usually starts with "It depends" especially when it comes to civil law. Hindi ko talaga laro 'yun I'm more in criminal law kasi.

"Sang-ayon ba ang lahat? Is there any opposing idea?" tanong ulit ni Kean.

"I have one."

"According to you, when the export increases sasabay sa pag-unlad ang ekonomiya nito. But actually, there are a lot of factors for that implementation needed to be considered. One of them is the independence ng isang bansa sa import business. Pangalawa, ang depreciation ng currency ay maari ring maging dahilan ng high inflation or raising the cost of importing raw materials. The value of the country's international debt also increases as soon as the currency weakens or depreciates. Nangyari ito sa Indonesia noong 1997 hanggang 1998."

So, Who's The Culprit? (completed)Tahanan ng mga kuwento. Tumuklas ngayon
