It's official. I'm officially adopted.

Though it sucks I never got to find Katrina, I know where her grave is, and I'm allowed to visit it as long as I tell Stephanie first. Which was a sensible rule, given the fact I'm a nine year old girl.

You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown was almost here, and dress rehearsals were fast approaching. My crush on Amethyst Eaton, who played Sally, was growing bigger and bigger by the day, and so was Harper's crush on me.

And here's a little secret, besides my bisexuality, that my family didn't know. I have perfect pitch.

The music director for the musical said I have one heck of a singing voice, and it helps that I really love to sing. It's just that singing in front of a bunch of Broadway people, one of which was my own adopted mother, was not what I wanted to do at the moment.

"Hey." Harper said, snapping me back to reality. She dropped something into my hand, giggled, and skipped off. I unclenched my hand out of the fist it was in and found a necklace in my hand with a star pendant on the chain. I smiled at Harper and then Whizzer came over to me.

"You know that Harper has a major crush on you, right?" Whizzer said. I sighed and said, "Don't remind me. It's gonna crush her when I officially come out to these people and tell Amethyst I like her."

"Josie, you're nine. There's no way your mom would let you have a girlfriend right now." Whizzer said. "I mean, I've crushed on Lars since I was a sixth grader."

"You've known him for that long?" I asked. Whizzer nodded and said, "He was my best friend in preschool. He was the one who gave me the nickname Whizzer. He was also my gay awakening, but we don't talk about that."

I laughed and said, "I can't wait for my family to see the show."

"My dads are gonna show up in Hawaiian shirts, I just know it." Whizzer said. I laughed and said, "My family's probably gonna be screeching the entire time."

"So wait, is what Stephanie said at rehearsal a few days ago true? The adoption was finalized?" Whizzer asked me with a glint of hope in his eyes. Despite him being an obsessive fanboy and being a little jealous of my situation, he was generally happy that I had a family, given he was adopted himself when he was about my age.

"Anyway, I have dance practice now, so I gotta go. I'm gonna be there for a while, I signed up for dance again once the adoption was finalized so I'll have something to do while my family does shows." I said.

"How many styles of dance do you actually do?" Whizzer asked.

"Four." I said. "Ballet, lyrical, hip hop, and tap. Stephanie jokes that my schedule is busier than hers." Whizzer laughed and then said, "You better get going, Josie. Have fun tonight!"

"Thanks! See you later!"
