Brandon's POV
Stephanie is currently freaking out and the doctor is trying to calm her down. Apparently there's an update on how Josie's doing and she's assuming the worst. I think most of us are assuming the worst, because unfortunately, Josie hasn't been doing too well.
"Hey." I said to Stephanie. She turned towards me and said, "How are you so calm?" I smiled gently and said, "Step outside and go get some water or something, let me talk to the doctor." Stephanie nodded slowly and then left the room.
"So, sir, how's Josephine doing? We're all really worried about her and just want to make sure she's okay after what happened."
"Well..."

Josie's POV
I woke up to bright, blinding lights and pain. I heard some chattering and then felt someone gently touch my arm.
Did that man still have me? Katrina's father? Maybe he did...I didn't recognize any of the voices I heard in the room around me.
"DON'T TOUCH ME DON'T TOUCH ME DON'T TOUCH ME!" I screamed when the person touching my arm reached to give me a hug.
"Hey, hey, Josie, it's alright, it's just me." someone said softly. I knew that voice, but couldn't quite put my finger on how I knew the voice or who it belonged to.
"Josie! Josie, calm down! It's not Martin!"
"MARTIN? WHO'S MARTIN?!" I screamed, sobbing and panicking before getting a grip on my surroundings.
"Does she have amnesia?" said someone else's voice from the corner. The world came into focus and I stopped crying.
"Brandon?" I asked, rubbing my eyes. I saw Stephanie in the corner and gasped. "Mama!"
"There's your answer, Stephanie. Josie remembers who we are." Andrew said. Stephanie completely ignored him and ran to hug the life out of me.
"She needs to breathe, Stephanie." Christian said. Stephanie glared at him and kept hugging me.
"No, Mom, he's right, I need to breathe." I said. Stephanie awkwardly let me go and ruffled my hair. "So, how are you feeling?"
"I have a headache." I complained. Stephanie sighed and kissed my forehead. "What's going on, what's wrong with me?" I asked.
Brandon sighed and took over. "So uh...we got a call after you got kidnapped...you remember getting kidnapped, right?" I nodded my head and Brandon continued, "Right, so your mom got a call saying that you got in a crash and got a brain injury. And that, my dear, was a massive exaggeration. You just have a moderate concussion."
Uh oh. I've been taught for years that concussions were no good. Someone in my class at my old school once got a horrible concussion, and he was out of school for months and couldn't do sports.
What would happen to Charlie Brown? Dance? Music? School?
"Oh." was all I could think of to say. I was in a little bit of a shock, I didn't know what to say or how to say it.
"Oh?" Christian asked. "That's all? You don't have any questions or anything?"
"Christian, she's nine. Not a medical professional, we should probably have the doctors or someone explain to her what's going on." Betsy said.
A doctor came in and said, "Oh hello, Josie! How are we feeling today?" I gave a weak thumbs-up and then Stephanie said, "We were hoping you could explain to her, and us, what's going on and tell her about how she can return to school and her musical and stuff."
"Oh, so you don't play any sports?" the doctor asked. Stephanie and I shook our heads. "Okay, well, you'll have to stay at home for about two weeks, and in a few days you can return to activities such as reading books or watching a movie with your family. No video games or cell phones for the time being. You can gradually increase activity, start with walks around your neighborhood, and in two weeks or so she can go back to school. In about a month's time, she can return to her full normal activities."
"Wait...a month?" I said. I counted on my fingers and said, "But Charlie Brown's in three weeks."
"Jay, I know you were looking forward to it, but you may not fully recover in time." Anthony said.
"That's the musical?" the doctor said. "I'm sorry, Josephine, I know how you feel. I was a massive theatre nerd in high school, did all the shows until I broke my leg a month out from opening night. I was devastated, I was the leading man, and I did the kissing scene with the cutest, most popular girl in the senior class. Not the point, however, my actual point is that there is some hope for you. You said the show was in three weeks, correct?"
"What did you do?" I asked softly.
"Well, I wasn't actually in the show, but I was on tech crew. The director still let me be involved and made me an ensemble member in case I recovered in time."
"I'm the assistant director..." I said, smiling a little.
"There you go, Josie! There's that smile!" Stephanie said.
I giggled and realized, I had hope.
Everything's going to be alright.
AN: I don't have much to say here except I tricked a few people into thinking Josie actually had a brain injury, and to those people, I'm sorry. Hope you enjoyed and catch ya later! Love you all!
