Captivity. A word that can mean many things. Being imprisoned by something. Being confined by something. Being in restraint. There are many uses of the word. But none rightly describe this type of captivity. First they tell you what is expected. If it isn't done they hurt you. Then they tell you what to do. If you don't do it they hurt you. Next they tell you how to act. If you don't do it they hurt you. They tell you how to feel. If you don't do it they hurt you. You become an object to control to them. You have no value, an empty shell. You have nothing to yourself. A shadow of what you once were before. You remember when life was good and you were free. You keep holding on to the last sliver of light, letting it burn, keeping the darkness away. But everything must come to an end eventually. It is up to us to decide, should the darkness win? Or the light.
