Golden Details Practice!!! (grab a piece of paper and come write with me)
Golden details are details that show the audience what is happening, not telling what happens. They add extra flare, but be careful not to over do it. Sometimes, too many details can ruin the scene. Since these didn't have context I added a bit more to 2, 3, and 4 than I would have normally. Happy writing!
Prompt 1: Musty Gym: The gym reeked of children, both past and present, all crowded into the steamy space
Prompt 2: Vain Neighbor: Looking out my window I think of a game to cure my boredom. Count how many times Jacob looks at the mirror, his phone, or messes with his appearance. 1...2...3...17...24...37... on and on, he couldn't take his attention away from his looks
Prompt 3: Crying Baby: The ear splitting noise came from across the food court. Turning around to look out the store, my head covered by my hood, I saw the poor woman and the disastrous being that would be with her for the next 18 years
Prompt 4: Home Made Treat: The creaminess of the flavor filled my mouth, melting down my throat. The coolness ran down my body, driving the painstaking heat of the sun away. I reached down into the ice cream maker, hearing my dad scold me for eating what was being made for dessert.
Prompt 5: TikTok Challenge: "Oooh" Yikes, that had to have hurt! I thought as I gaped at my cousin, lying flat on the ground surrounded by colorful boxes
(I'm aware that some are better than others but I didn't have much experience to relate to)
