Prompt: write a poem inspired by color
"Why gray?"
Slim and sleek
Metal cold
Dark stormy skies
Falling snow
A warm blanket
Default screens
Not quite it's own color,
A mix of black and white
No milk chocolate here
in the tossed away wrapper.
Mirrors and glass tinted
with the forgotten "shade"
Dancing in the corners of our eyes
Seen every day, yet
So rarely acknowledged,
So many other colors to pick from.
"Why gray?"
"What's so good about it?"
It is a handcrafted color you know,
Sewing, writing, or sculpting
our life stories.
The color of wisdom
Of the test of time,
Sweet smiles from grandparents
Whose pictures have yellowed at the edge
Love is gray too you know,
But many think it is brightly colored.
Gray is a stable color, a color to lean on
Little splotches looking out for you
Guiding you the swirls of color in life.
