BLOCK PARTY FEATURED AUTHOR: Gail Wagner

ABOUT:I live in New Mexico with one very patient husband, and three crazy kids.  I am an avid reader and will read anything, including text books and the backs of shampoo bottles should I get bored enough, I dabble in all sorts of hobbies and was a seamstress once upon a time.

WATTPAD BLOCK PARTY STORY: Spell, Book, and Candl

SHORT SYNOPSIS: Every story has two sides.  In Colonial New England, Thackery Whitfield has hunted witches his whole life and no one is better at it.  After the chaos of the Salem witch trials he is reticent to accuse innocents, giving one witch a chance to take him out.  In present day Connecticut, Zadie Edwards lives a quiet life, practicing her white magic with the hopes of joining her aunt's coven.  When their lives become inexplicably tangled, they have only one choice: put aside their differences and work together or die.

AUTHOR INTERVIEW:

Who are your favorite authors?

JK Rowling, Julie Kagawa, Cassandra Clare, Bruce Coville, Scott Westerfield

What advice do you have for aspiring authors?

Just keep writing! There's no way to please everyone, so as long as you're happy and know you're doing your best, you're doing it right!

What was the inspiration for the story you wrote for the Block Party?

I wrote a short (500 word) story for a contest a few years ago and I just couldn't leave it alone!

What are your writing habits, or routine?I write best late at night... if I can stay awake long enough! I like to write in my pj's on my bed, preferably with a Dr. Pepper and some great music!  :)

How did you discover Wattpad?

Another author acquaintance told me I should sign up, so I did! The rest is history!

When I'm not writing I'm: Reading, watching a Netflix marathon, or starting another project I saw on Pinterest. I may also be doing the endless piles of laundry that come with three kids.  :)

How did your Wattpad Block Party story come to you?

It started with a short story and I just couldn't quit thinking about it.  What if?  I got a neat idea to switch back and forth between modern day and colonial times and it clicked!  I wanted to do something dealing with the Salem witch trials that hadn't been done before.

What's you favorite thing about Wattpad?

I love the sense of community and getting to know readers there.  I've made friends from all over the world!

What can we expect from you next?

Well, my agent is shopping out Curiosity Killed The Crow and I'm partner publishing the rest of my Donegal Sidhe series.  I've got several more ideas for novels that I'm sure I'll be starting soon because I'm not happy unless I’ve got too many projects going!
