Dushyant, relaxing in his room for his only day off in the week, was suddenly, interrupted by his mother,
'kavin se baat ki?' dushyant, who replied to this question with a light chuckle,
'mom, abhi usse ghar toh aane do.'
'yeh kahan reh gaya.' She said as she went ahead and occupied the edge of the bed her son was sitting on.
'mom, kyun itna tension le rahi ho?' he asked with concern.
'arre tension nahi le rahi hoon, bas..' said his mother in a bad attempt to conceal her worry, dushyant who knew his mother seriously needs to be distracted from this topic, said,
'acha aapko yaad hai, bachpan mein jab aap mere liye sooji ka halwa banaya karti thi mera mood thik karne ke liye.' Said dusyhant to which his mom nodded, as he continued,
'how about aap ke liye aaj main banao?'
'really?' asked his reluctant mother while he nodded,
'obviously, banana lagunga toh she'll keep a continous watch ki main kuch galat na kardo, that will buy us some time..' he thought.
***
'not bad, huh.' Remarked his mother as dushyant just shrugged, both of them continuing to eat. Suddenly, they were interrupted by kavin,
'kya khaa rahe ho mere bina?' he asked as he jumped on the sofa with his brother, peeping into his bowl.
'arre, aa gaya tu.' Remarked their mother as she eyed dushyant, we all know why.
'haan, woh doston ka saath gaya tha, bhai ko bataya toh tha.' Said kavin as he looked at his brother.
'kavin, tub hi thoda halwa lele, haan, mom?' said dushyant as his mother understood his signal and left.
'kya baat aaj halwa kaise ban gaya?' he asked as he reclined himself on the couch.
'kavin, as much as i can't believe i am doing this, we need to talk..'
'ok, what about?'
'mom teri shaadi ki chinta kar rahi hai, aur unhe purvi ke barein mein pata chal gaya hai...now you can connect the dots..'
'yaar abhi do saal se toh aapki shaadi ke peeche padi thi, ab meri shaadi ke peche pad gayi hain...'
'isiliye, pressure mat feel karna, agar tu purvi ko lekar serious nahi hai toh..'
'yaar aisi baat nahi hai, par, matlab, abhi usse shaadi ki baat karunga, strange nahi lagega?'
'mere liye shaadi ka topic hamesha strange hi rahega...anyways, par dekh bhai, i would suggest, tu soch le, agar tu interested hai toh ek baar usse baat kar liyo ki abhi woh shaadi ke barein mein kya soch rahi hai, phir dekhte hain kya karna hai...'
'thik hai, karta hoon baat, waise mujhe doubt hi hai ki usse shaadi mein interest hoga.'
'dekh abhi toh graduation kar rahi hai, and she's ambitious too, so abhi toh nahi, but let's not make assumptions ki she's completely not interested.'
'mummy ke ideas ka kya hi karein, huh?' said kavin as dushyant nodded and they both shared a chuckle.
***
'bhai, you won't believe what happened!' kavin jumped in joy as he next to his brother on his bed.
'ok, what is it?' dushyant said as he tried to comprehend kavin's excitement.
'so, purvi called me up, kaha ki mujhse milna hai, ccd at 5. Main gaya, and you won't believe what she said..' he said as he was about to begin narrating the incident.
Purvi, anxiously waiting, constantly checking if kavin had come or not. But the smile on her face wasn't fading away soon as her sight caught kavin.
'hi.' He said as he seated himself.
'hey.' She said as she was still smiling.
'so, everything alright?' asked kavin as purvi's anxiety returned, but she composed herself as she remarked,
'kavin, there's something i have to tell you.', making kavin pay very close attention.
'i think i might be falling in love with you. i don't know when or how, but i am and i just had to tell you..' She said with so much affection and earnestness in her eyes, as kavin blushed with a smile,
'i think i might be too.' He said, as he clasped his hand into hers and they got lost into each other's eyes in love.
'really? I actually can't believe this happened.' Said dushyant
'i told you.' said kavin as they both shared a chuckle.
'but i'm so happy for you..' he said as he patted kavin's shoulder.
'i am really happy too.' Said kavin
Only that they had no idea that their mother heard all of this, and there was something going on in her head, seemed like she had just got an idea.
***
'mujhe toh yakeen hi ho raha, dono betiyon ka rishta bethi-bethi hi aa gaya!' she remarked as purvi said in disbelief,
'yaar yeh kambal ki hi aurat hai, bina batayein aayi aur kehti hai apni beti ki shaadi karado mere bete se.'
'toh tum dono pyaar karte toh ho ek dusre se, problem kya hai?' asked their mother.
'arre par..'
'aur woh abhi shaadi karne ko keh rahi hain kya, kaha toh ki abhi engagement kara lo, shaadi aapki beti ki marzi se hi karenge. Khabar daar tune koi drama kiya toh!' she yelled at purvi while she moved to ishita,
'aur ishu, tu toh mera heera hi thi hamesha se. Batao, rishta purvi ka karne aaye thi, isse bhi pasand karke chali gayi, aur dekh toh, ladke ka apna bungalow, apni company, tere toh bhaag hi khul gaye!' said their mother while ishita had a forceful smile on her face, which purvi noticed.
'chalo bhai, ab kitne logon ko khush khabri deni hai.' Said their mother as she left to grab her phone.
'di, sach batao, kya feel kar rahi ho aap isse rishte ke barein mein?' said purvi
'abhi toh ladke se baat ki hi nahi hai, how would i know before that?' she remarked as she sat down and composed herself.
'aap shaadi bhi karna chahti ho?' asked purvi, to which ishita remained silent.
***
'toh aap bina bataye mera rishta kar aayi mera?' exclaimed dushyant.
'arre, jab maine dekha na usse, mujhe aisa laga jaisi bahu main hamesha se chahti thi bilkul waisi hi hai. especially jab woh chaye banakar layi.' Stated their mother as kavin chuckled,
'aap bhai ki shaadi di se isiliye karna chahti hai kyunki woh chaye achi bananti hai..aise toh bhai ki shaadi shyam bhaiya se karado.' said kavin while dushyant covered his face, and shyam bhaiya just looked at them, completely weirded out.
'arre mazak kar raha tha, sorry!' said kavin.
'baat ache ki nahi hoti hai, achi chai kulad wala bhi bana leta hai, baat yeh hai ki woh kitni pyaar se banakar, pyaar se pilati hai. Dil saaf hai uska, khush rakhegi isse.' Said their mother while kavin laughed uncontrollably.
'tu hasna band kar! Aur dushyant, tu ek baar mil le usse, meri choice pe bharosa nahi hai...' she said as just dushyant looked at her and sighed,
'emotional blackmail ki zaroorat nahi hai, mil lunga.' Said dushyant as their mother smiled.
