I open my eyes.
I hear beeps, random soft voices, and a blurred face in front of me.
Chris Johnson.
"Where am I?" I ask.
"You're in the hospital. Do you remember what happened?" He asked.
"Yeah, don't remind me," I said, aggravated yet happy I was here. "Why are you here?"
"I wanted to check on you," he said.
"Um - I thought you hated me," I say.
"Maddie, I don't hate you. I thought we were friends?" He says, but also in a question form.
"Yeah, of course," I say.
"Cool. I'm going to go get your other friend, Kelley," he says.
"She's here?" I ask.
"Yup, see? You are loved by so many people," he says. I smile back at him.
He walks out the door of the room. I think about what just happened. Chris is now my friend! And he visited me in the hospital! Wow-
My thoughts are interrupted by the sound of a door opening.
"Maddie! You're okay!" Kelley says, running over to hug me. I hug her back right away.
"Yup," I say, really not sure if I actually am okay. Then I realize Chris is still in the room.
"How did you guys know I was here?" I ask both of them.
"Sean texted me, and I told Chris. The whole school found out in less than an hour," she says. I start to get worried.
"Even all of my bullies?" I ask.
"Yeah, but don't worry! Everyone knows they bully you. They were all expelled just a few minutes ago," she says. A look of relief appears on my face. Now I'm sure they won't bother me again.
"Oh wow. That's great!" I say.
Chris comes walking over. "Hey guys, do you want to go to the mall after you get out of here?" He asks.
"Chris," I say. "I was just put in here for SUICIDE. They won't let me go anywhere, even after I get home. I will probably have to wait a week. Now that I know the bullies were expelled, I won't have to try any suicidal actions again," I say, with a smile on my face. I was smiling because I knew this was never going to happen again.
"I'm sorry, I forgot. I didn't mean to remind you," he says with a frown on his face. I laugh because I'm okay.
"I'm okay! Here, let's exchange numbers," I say as I hand him my phone and he hands me his. I make my contact name: "Dempsey" and take a cute selfie, even though I look like a mess and I'm in the hospital. I laugh as I hand him back his phone.
"Cute," he laughs.
DID HE JUST CALL ME CUTE?! DID THE CHRIS JOHNSON JUST CALL ME CUTE?! I sit there with a smile on my face, trying to hide what's going on inside. Chris and Kelley exchange numbers, and suddenly a doctor comes in.
"Is she awake?" The doctor asks.
"Yup," Kelley answers.
The doctor walks up to me. She's a really pretty about-25-year-old woman. She has strawberry blonde straight hair, and big blue eyes.
"How are you feeling, sweetie?" The woman asked.
"I'm better," I responded.
"Oh great, you can go home tomorrow. You're mother just left to get you pajamas, clothes for tomorrow, and some ice cream!" She said with a smile.
"Okay!" I said, and fell back asleep within minutes.
