Nervous.
Definition:
Highly excitable; unnaturally or acutely uneasy or apprehensive:
to become nervous under stress.Ha. Ha ha ha.
Silly definition, you have no idea how I feel right now. None.
I mean, yes we've done this before but that does not change a thing. Each time it gets worse because each time it gets harder and more dangerous.
Remind me why I do this again?
Oh yeah, that's right. Because our world sucks and so do the people in it.
Anyways back to the nervous problem. Ugh. I hate this feeling so much. The tightness of my muscles. My stomach doing belly flop after belly flop. And don't get me started on my hair. This is why I hate it so much. It's like a mood ring except it's my hair.
You want to know what color my hair is right now?
Grey.
Like an old lady.
Ew.
I mean come on, I'm nineteen years old! I should not have old lady hair!
Anyways, what am I nervous about you ask?
It might be the fact that we- my group and I- are making appearance at one of the biggest social events of the year -for the Tera Clan-that is. It's the event that's making me all jittery inside (and out, but nobody needs to know that), no it's not that at all.
It has to do with the something that is now sitting in its display case, loud and proud.
It's the Tera clan's power source, or as I like to call it, The Woo-Woo. You heard me, Woo-Woo.
Now why would my stomach be flipping shit about this object that's the size of a softball?
Because we are going to steal it.
Yup that's right. Steal. By the end of the day it will be in our hands. Well, that's the plan.
"Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, who is ready for the yearly unveiling of the almighty Ground of the Tera Clan?" The second-in-command of the Tera's voice boomed throughout the room. That's the actual word for it: Ground. I guess it makes sense to call it that, since it's the base of the Clan and all.
The crowd of spectators goes wild.
You see, in this world there are average people and then there are people of the Clans. The average people know nothing about the Clans and it is meant to be that way, because if we were discovered all hell would break loose. Not even kidding. If the powerless- a infamous nickname for the average people- found out about us, they would do anything possible to capture us and observe us like caged animals. Yeah, not so fun.
"I can't hear you! Is everybody ready?" He repeats, successfully riling up the crowd. "Alright, alright, settle down now."
I rolled my eyes, he gets the observers excited only to tell them to calm down once more. I swear, people these days.
Adjusting my beenie, that covers my obnoxious hair, shielding it from the public eye, my gaze wanders around the expanse of the room. Taking in the blue walls, to the gigantic stage in the front of the room, with all of the Tera Clan's council members ready to present their pride and joy, and my eyes find a certain someone in the crowd who is already looking at me.
Carson.
This boy, oh my god this boy. He never fails to make my heart stutter in my chest. We're from the same clan, inseparable. Attached at the hip since I was born a couple of hospital rooms away from him. Our moms are best friends, causing us to always be around each other.
