"Kendall," I called into the earpiece, hoping for an answer. Almost crying in relief when I got one.
"I'm here, Rosie," she whispered. "There must be something in the song that makes them affected."
"Where are you?" I asked, crouching behind a house as I waited for three guards to pass. How are they not affected by the song? What do they have on them or inside of them that allows them to walk around the area unaffected? Or are they just not affected because they are not by the castle, within hearing distance of the songs?
"By the rose fields, the little bakery we used to go to," she answered. "What about you?" I didn't answer right away, there was another group passing by. "Riley?" She sounded panicked. "Are you okay?"
I breathed out through my nose, they were getting closer to my position. I turned invisible, not knowing if they would be able to so me or not. They'd have to touch me to know I'm here, I hope. They might have one of the specially made lenses that allows the cops of the Clans to be able to see people like me.
"Rosie? Answer me!" Kendall cried.
"Why do you think we're not allowed in the City Center?" One male guard asked his female partner.
"I don't know," she answered. "Maybe they're doing something dangerous and want us safe."
Who's they?
"Oh my gosh," Kendall whispered, I don't know why she was whispering, I hoped she was okay. "Rosie, breathe with me, alright? We can do this."
"Yes, King Jensen?" The woman asked, coming to a halt. "She is?" Pause. "I don't see her."
"Riley! Get out of there!" Kendall cried. The guard looked in my direction, her eyes landing on my forehead.
"She's standing by that house?" The woman asked, sounding incredulous. "Sir, I don't see anything- get her!"
I ran through the shrubs and trees, a bit angry that I gave up my Viper Clan abilities to Lucas. I was such an idiot, the Viper had a specialty for speed, not the Grizzly. The Grizzly Clan was strong and bulky, only having muscles to make them huge and buff. I didn't have my speed and luckily, neither did they. They could call back up at anytime though, so I needed to get away and hide somewhere. Fast.
"I thought we disabled their access to the cameras!" Kendall said, her breathing heavier than mine.
"I don't know where to go!" I whispered urgently as I ran along the edge of the forest near the southern tip of the rose fields. "Kendall!"
"Where are you?" She breathed out.
"Rose fields," I panted, glad I did the extra running on the side without using my abilities.
"Get back here, Princess!" The woman shouted, their speed equal with mine. They were struggling.
"Back up!" The male called. "I need back up! Someone with speed!"
"Go into the fields, Riley," Kendall ordered.
"What?" I asked, dumbfounded. They'd follow me for sure.
"You know how much people hate going in them," she explained. "It's better than getting caught, now go!"
"Fine," I took a sharp right into the colorfully grown flowers, thorns nipping at my legs, tearing through the thin material of my pants. "They didn't follow me, yet."
"What section are you in?" Kendall sounded winded.
"Right now, I'm in the blue," I answered, breathing hard.
