Gray was fast asleep when he was awakened by someone shaking him. He groaned and slowly opened his eyes to see the girl from yesterday standing over him with a pained look on her face. Gray remembered he didn't get home till night fall and fell asleep as soon as he put the girl on the couch. He pushed her away and got up from his bed with a loud yawn.

"Mister, I need to pee! Where's your bathroom!?" The girl was bent over in agony holding her urine bouncing from side to side like a child.

He rolled his eyes and grumbled as he showed her the bathroom. Meanwhile he made his way to the kitchen of the small apartment complex. Gray began brewing coffee when she ran into the room and squealed with joy.

"Can you not make so much noise please? Its still night time you know, I still wanna sleep soon."

The girl looked at him and laughed as he stared at her with an annoyed look.

"Why are you making coffee if your going to sleep then?" she cried out as she sat on the dusty floor. Gray looked at the coffee pot and back at her. Darn twat had a point. He grumbled and turned off the machine and turned on the old television.

"My names Victoria, but I prefer Vic." the girl said as she plopped down next to him on the couch. "He wasnt always like that you know"

Gray looked at her and wondered what she was talking about. He had almost forgotten she was even there.

"Who?" he asked flipping through channels of static. Vic yawned and grabbed an old newpaper off the coffee table.

"My dad, he used to look normal, but after my mom died when i was five...he changed. He began dressing like mommy and acting like her, I think he did it so i wouldnt miss her as much. I always knew it was him though" she snorted out a giggle and looked down for a bit, her short hair brushing over her eyes. "I just dont know why hed get rid of me, yet it is a relief though! He always kept me locked up in a room all by myself. I felt like an animal, a tied up dog on a leash. This is actually my first time out of that room since I was a little girl. Maybe he just didnt want what happened to my mom to happen to me."

With an annoyed sigh Gray rubbed his tired eyes and took out his pack of cigarettes. "What happened to your mom?"

Vic pulled her legs up to her chest, picking at her toe nails.

"Well, this man with a skull face injected her with a toxin and made her infected. Pops had to kill her, she almost attacked me or maybe she bite me, who knows, i was only five"

When he heard her say skull face he had flash back to that day.

"Grayson! Dont leave me! Dont let him take me!..."  The screams and his gun fire from five years ago still echoed in his head.

Vic looked over at Gray with a blank stare and saw his cigarette dangeling from his lips. She went over to him and slapped the back of his head.

"Earth to Gray!" she yelled in his ear and Gray blinked after realizing he was remembering again. Vic wiped away the tear the had rolled down his cheek and stared at him with a dumbfounded look.

"Why are you crying? Dont be sad for me, sorry i became a buzz kill" Vic scratched her head and gave a crooked smile but Gray just exhaled a cloud of smoke in her face.

"Dont flatter yourself. I wasnt crying over you. I was just remembering something. You said something about a skull face. Ive seen him once before, five years ago. But thats a different story for a different time." He murmered as he got up stretching his back. Vic shrugged and looked over at a picture frame, a woman with a pregnant belly and a younger Gray posed with happy smiles for the snapshot. Vic picked it up and admired the womans smile.

"Shes pretty! Who is she?"

Gray looked over at what Vic was rambling on about and quickly snatched the frame out of her hands.

"The baby! Gray help the-"  Bang. Bang. The sound of his revolver was replayed in his head as he stashed the frame in an old drawer. Vic looked sad and curled up in a ball on the couch, and his guilt for being rash took over him.

"Annabelle." he said as he walked towards his bedroom.

Vic looked up and gave him a curious look.

"Her name was Annabelle." he repeated as he closed the door to his room and the creak of his bed was heard as he went to sleep. Vic gave a small smile and layed down on the couch. Gray didnt seem as mean as she thought. There was hope she'd be able to get through to him and maybe, just maybe have her first friend.
