The morning sun had fully risen and the blazing heat within Gray's car was unbelievable. Sweat dripped from his buzz cut shaved sides and his cigarettes were becoming distasteful in the blaze of heat. Gray drove between streets filled with noise from the recked casinos, bars, and strip clubs. Grabbing his holster he checked his ammunition and placed it back. Pulling up to a small bar joint Gray proceeded to stuff himself with weapons. His butterfly knife tucked in nicely within his sleeves and the two guns in his waist holster that were neatly covered by his long dark green jacket. His bullet belt not only secured his raggedy jeans but also provided ammunition for emergencies, most people got a kick out of it, yet the bullets werent active unless used with enough force. As he stomped in the bar, he noticed it was quite empty, except for a group of "women" in the corner of the bar. Gray sat in front of the bartender and kept an eye out.
"New in town huh?"
The bartender was wiping the counters and didnt look up to see Grays tired eyes.
"How'd you know?" he said with a chuckle, " lemme have a glass of orange juice and shot of whiskey."
Grabbing the bottles and procedded to pour it out in front of Gray as he leaned sheepishly upon the counter. It was morning, yet he was so exhasted from driving nonstop.
"Your that guy everyone hires for their dirty work, right? My nephew up north heard about you once, mentioned you were like a gazelle with that gun of yours. Are ya here for the crimes happenin' lately? It's quite a scare having such violence here in The Boulevard ya know" he grumbled as Gray slowly savored the bitter drink.
Looking over at the trasvestites in the corner he noticed they looked pretty gloomy, like in mourning of a loved one.
"So violence isn't really practiced here huh? Whys that? Ameliea Lanker sure seems like a violent type." Gray murmered and looked back to the bartender as he casually leaned on the counter himself.
"Amelia is violent to an extent; however she prefers it to be peaceful here and with these crimes shes at her last witt. Everybody knows the rules and treat the women with respect but I guess this hooligan doesn't get it." He took a bottle of Gin and gulped the last of it down. One of the "women" from the corner slowly rised and made their way to the bar counter where Gray was seated. Her heavy perfume burned Grays nostrilss more than the whiskey burned his throat. She rested her squared chin upon their broad hands and asked for a shot to the bartender.
"I know who your after. His names Tim, he's in the Toxicator busines from Texas." with a sigh she brushed back her hair and looked at Gray. The Toxicator business left Gray even more intriged, this busniess consisted of collecting persons that were infected with the toxins from the nuclear bombing. Once collected they were treated as fighting dogs and can also be used to creating small armies to take out bosses. Was that what Tim was doing? Checking out the potential The Boulavards civilians had, and having a crack at it at the same time? Only one way to find out.
"Do you think he's trying to over rule Amelia?" Gray asked finishing his drink. The woman looked taken aback and shook her head vigorously.
"No, well, I don't know! He could be, there haven't been any extreme threats to Amelia specifically though." she cried as she looked over at her comrades in the corner who all now had worried looks on their faces. Gray began pulling out a cigarette when a shriek followed by a bang was heard outside the bar. He hurried out and saw a short man with dreads to his shoulders grabbing one of the women by the neck and shushed her by placing his long machete to her neck.
"Aye, why dont you leave the lady alone? Its bad enough she has to work here." Gray muttered lighting his cigarette then motioning to the strip club they had come out of. The man smirked and pulled out a syringe filled with green liquid.
"Well, why don't you have her yourself. Shes not my type anyways!," in a blink of an eye he had injected the needle in her shoulder, releasing the fluid within her. She shreiked and fell to the ground, twitching all over. Poison? No, Gray had seen this once before. It was the toxins that infected people to go completely savage and violent, as if an advanced case of rabies.
"Bastard!" Gray yelled as he began to shoot at the now infected woman. She moved with speed and dodged most bulletes, not makinig any fatal wounds to slow her down. The man laughed as he sat watching the fight go on. Gray reloaded his gun and took in a deep breath, consintrating on the woman, she seemed to move in slow motion. He waited for her to get in close but not to close as he pulled out his second gun and shot her head and the mans legs at the same time. The woman fell to the floor and all bystanders grabbed the man by his arms.
"Thats him! He's Tim!" the same woman from inside the bar shrieked out. Gray looked over at Tim and walked over to him as he cried out as his leg bled out. He looked at Gray and angrily spat at his face. In anger Gray placed his gun in Tim's face but remembered Amelia wanted him alive. With a grumble he reached in his jacket pocket, wiped off the spit and slid on his brass knuckles.
"Bad move Timmy boy." and with that he punched him hard enough he knocked out hitting the floor.
Gray pulled up into Amelia lackers house and looked back into his trunk bed where he had tied up Tim with a sock in his mouth. Tim was an easy catch, Amelia could of done it himself; however he most likely knew about the toxins. Lacker probably didnt want to risk his chance of getting infectd himself. Slydog he is.
Amelia ran out of the huge doored entrance of his home and smiled widely upon Grays arrival.
"Its only been a few hours! You caught him already?!" he cried as seeing Tims body in the truck. Gray got out of his car and began tugging at Tims unconscious body to get out his truck bed. Amelia waved for his men to get Tim and bring him to her.
"I think I just got a lucky break today. After all im tired as hell. Id kill for a good wink." Gray said yawning and scratching at his chin. Amelia smirked and gave a small laugh and pulled out the five hundred dollar reward.
"As promised, your money." Gray caught the cash as he had tossed it to him and proceeded to his truck. With a wave Amelia said goodbye and hauled Tims body inside. Half way outside of leaving The Boulevard, Grays old video trasmiter began to recieve an incoming call. The screen showed a happy Amelia followed with a laugh.
"Oh Gray baby, I forgot to tell you, enjoy your present." Amelia winked and left Gray in utter confusion.
"The money? Of course, Ill enjoy it, I need it to scap by." He yelled to the trasmitted image of Lacker.
"Oh no, not the money, the woman I had placed in your trunk bed!" He cried with enthusiasm. Gray cocked a brow and picked his ear. Perhaps he heard wrong.
"Excuse me did you just say woman?" glancing back at his trunk he was greeted by a face pressed up to the glass, nostrils flaring and all. The girl looked about seventeen but acted like a five year old. She laughed hestarically after hearing Grays shriek of suprise making the truck swerve a bit.
"Woman?! Thats a kid! What the hell do you want me to do with it?!" He yelled to Amelias now blurry image. Amelia shrugged and blew him a kiss before hearing a gun shot in the background.
"Ta-Ta! Take care of my daughter for me! Tims taken care of, Thanks again!" the screen went black and Gray was left speechless. He hit the brakes and heard a bang as the girl hit the window.
"Woops" he muttered as he looked at her slowly get up laughing again like a wild animal.
"Again! Again!" she yelled clapping her hands. Gray furrowed his brows and pulled out his tranquelizer gun. One shot to the arm and she was dead asleep. This was going to be a long trip back home, but atleast it'd be a quiet one.
