Chapter 1: The Dawn of My Magic

The school bell rings and it is time for lunch. I am so excited. This is my first year that lunch period is actually free period. We go in the school yard.
It is filled with other middle school students who are not hungry.

Suddenly out of no where, an explosion just occurred not far from campus. The girls start screaming and some boys. The rest of the boys just looks at the site of the explosion. Suddenly some inhuman creatures comes flying down towards the campus on giant mutant birds.

This time, everybody goes running inside. When my friend is about to reach the door, an invisible forcefield is revealed and electrified him. He is thrown back.

A teacher goes and checks his heart. From the look on her face, I can tell that it killed him.

The creatures got in with no problem. Now I am mad. They killed my friend. They are not going to get away with it, not while I am alive.

The next thing I do comes to a shock towards everybody. I somehow created a ball of fire from my hands and threw it at the creatures. They grew 5 meters every moment in diameter in the air. It burned almost half of the army.

The rest retreats and I keep throwing balls of fire at them, however I did it. I just wanted to get revenge. There is less than a dozen survivors left.

Now I need an explanation. How did I do it? All of my schoolmates are staring at me in horror.

"I honestly have no idea how I did that. Seriously, never done it before except just now in my life," I try to reason with them.

"Magic," one of the new teachers just said out loud. He is an elderly man in his fifties. He has white facial hair and brown hair.

"Don't worry about them," he said. "I erased the memory of you using your power from their minds. Now I froze time for them and the rest of the world. When I snap my fingers, time will go again for this dimension and they will have no idea why their faces are in that position. You go on with the rest of the day and come home immediately after school. We have a lot to talk about. Now I am going to bring your little friend here back to life," he tells me slowly.

Conner gets back up. He isn't even blinking. Time is still frozen for him. I look towards the man.

"Thank you," I say to him. "No need to thank me. Now this is the first and last time I can save his life. He already went against the laws of nature once and he can't defy it again," he replies aware of my shock. "Try to stay out of trouble will you. There are only two periods left," he says and disappears into thin air.

The world around me starts to work again and I am still clueless of what just happened.

When I get home, the man is there sitting on the couch with my parents. They are looking at me.

"Mom, dad, I am almost sure that you know more about what happened today more than I do judging from our company and..." I am interrupted by my dad.

"That is true and we know exactly what is going on. We've been knowing this day will come since you were born. We just thought that it will happen when you are older, but obviously we were wrong."

I look at them in silence. Why haven't they told me about this? The man takes my hand and leads me upstairs. I look back at my parents and they nod signaling to me that it is okay.
