Summary: rewrite the last episode of merlin because there's a lot of weird things the writers did. also writing a happy ending cause i want to.
1- fight between mordred and arthur was anti-climatic.
2- why didnt merlin call kilgharrah earlier?
fixed these things and added some more scenes_______________________________________
Arthur crouched down to the knight who had lifted his hand. He held it close to his chest. This man was dying. For a second, Arthur considered that his fate was his fault. Afterall, he led this man into battle. No, he reminded himself. This man chose to follow me into battle. And I didn’t declare war, Morgana did. This is to fight sorcery. He has done his part in the war against evil. He should be proud.
But Arthur knew he couldn’t dwell on this man’s life. The life was already fading from his eyes. Tears did not fall from Arthur’s eyes- they couldn’t. He was a knight, and he was a king. He heard a blade be unsheathed behind him, and he stood tall to face his next opponent.
Mordred.
Arthur froze in horror for a second. The boy he had helped escape so many years ago, the boy he had trained to be a knight, now stood before him, ready to take his life. He looked into Mordred’s eyes, and could see that he, too, was not prepared to fight him. But that soon clouded over, with a sense of grief and hatred Arthur had never sensed in the boy before. Arthur readied his blade. This wasn’t Mordred, Arthur decided. This was just another soul Morgana had corrupted.
Their blades clashed, and for a moment, Arthur was sure he was winning. He had backed Mordred into a corner, their blades up against each other. No words were exchanged between the two, their argument instead being by the sword. Arthur overpowered the boy, Mordred falling to the ground on his back. Arthur pointed his sword towards Mordred’s neck- it would be so easy to kill him. They had been here before, in training. But this was a battle, and there was no time for mercy.
So why did Arthur hesitate? Why couldn’t he kill Mordred? His hand was shaking. He couldn’t kill him- not when he saw the younger man as a brother. He lowered his sword, outstretching his hand towards the boy.
“Mordred, it doesn’t have to be this way.” Arthur said. “Morgana has corrupted you- she’s probably used magic to infect your mind. But with this battle, with this victory, we can overpower the forces of magic, and show to the world that sorcery is indeed an evil that needs to be eradicated.”
Mordred looked disgusted, and did not move to Arthur’s hand. “You think magic is evil?” He said. “Magic is not evil. Magic has never been evil. It is you, sire, that has always been evil. Your father is the one who corrupted you and infected this land with his hatred. We have tried so desperately to show you the good of magic, but you have ignored our kind for far too long, and we are tired of waiting.”
“We?” Arthur said, his mind circling. “What do you mean ‘We’?”
And that’s when Arthur knew, for Mordred’s eyes flashed yellow, and Arthur screamed as he was flown into the air. He landed on his back, and he cried in pain. He tried to get up, but was pushed down by an invisible force. He looked up only to meet Mordred, and his gold glowing eyes.
“I have magic, Arthur Pendragon.” Mordred said, almost spitting his name out like it was venom. “You’re so arrogant, so ignorant and so blind that you couldn’t even see that one of your own had magic.” Mordred paused. “Well, two of your own. But you won’t have to worry about that much longer.”
