On my way home I saw Sōma entering our local supermarket. Spontaneously I took a turn at the crossway, drove around the block and parked on the markets parking lot. Inside, the speakers were playing the same familiar music and commercials. Sōma stood in front of the soy sauce and I thought about spooking him a bit – just because it worked all the time and it was always very cute when he, being only 5'5" (1,65 meter) tall, then scolded me for it – but then I saw Shizuka, which was sound asleep in the baby sling so I dismissed the thought.
«Sōma!»
He turned around with a surprised look. «Takao! Where did you come from?»
I gently kissed his forehead and caressed Shizukas little cheek. «I just saw you from the car and thought I could help you.», I said.
«That's nice. This Chibi1 here didn't want to sleep in the bed but with the baby sling it's rather difficult to clean up so I decided to go grocery shopping instead. Also the soy sauce will run out within the next days and Ichikawa-san2 gave me selfmade pickled radish as a present so I thought about miso-marinated steaks with peppers and eggplant for dinner. What do you think?»
«Sounds great.», I said, «Wait, I'll take the shopping basket.»
At the checkout we attracted the usual attention and I caught two female students, who whispered something stereotypical about us. I turned around and smiled at them whereupon they blushed and quickly hid in the aisle. We were used to those gazes but I knew Sōma always really felt uncomfortable every time. Before Shizuka was born it was just the homosexual couple they gawked at and while I could manage that quite well, since it was now obvious, that one of us had to be a rare male omega even I felt a little awkward. Shizuka had to sensed Sōmas uneasiness because she woke up as I paid and started crying. I thanked the cashier as he gave me the change, put my arm around Sōmas waist in a demonstrative manner and, while he tried to calm down the baby, lightly pushed him out of the market and to the car. Inside I looked for her bottle and gave it to him.
While he fed her, I turned his way and hugged him as well as the center console would allow me. He didn't stop shivering.
«It's all fine. I'm here. Shizukas here. And that's all that matters, ok?»
He nodded subtly, when the little one pushed away the feeding bottle and showed us her cutest smile: «Ahhh da miiii agaguuu pfft»
«See, she's also agreed with me!» I said laughing and even Sōma couldn't help but smile. «Let's go home. I'm starving and you surely haven't had a decent meal today either.»
After dinner I played with Shizuka a bit and later on put her to sleep while Sōma cleaned the kitchen. I could tell from his behavior that it still bothered him what happened earlier. So to distract his mind, I played my whole repertoire of techniques while seducing him. I knew where he would feel it the most and his body responded honestly, if he wanted it or not. I caressed his blushed face and confessed my love to him over and over again. I swore that I would love him for the rest of my life and neither the gods nor the devil could change my mind about it. And Sōma knew I was serious.
I was glad to see him doing better the next morning so that I didn't have to so worry much when I leave the house for work after we ate breakfast together. It was an uneventful morning until Fujita stopped me, just when I was on my way to buy lunch.
«Takao, it's the central hospital. But you don't...»
Immediately, a thousand thoughts went through my head. I knew I shouldn't left him alone this morning! Or is it Shizuka? She was healthy when I gave her a goodbye kiss.
«Hear me out!», he grabbed my wrist before I could rush to his office, «It's about the boy from yesterday.»
My heart felt like it skipped a beat from relief and my legs nearly gave away. I made an apologetic gesture and took the call.
