(Takao POV)
It took four weeks until they discharged me with grinding teeth. I was so done with everything. With the food, the bed rest, the little entertainment the TV had to offer and last but not least with my always cranky and demented roommate, who endlessly talked about the war. They promised me the very next single room available, but I couldn't wait any longer. I also missed it very much to be with my family.
Sōma waited at the parking lot, when the nurse wheeled me out in a wheelchair. My belongings cautiously stacked upon my lap. Fujita had lend him his van bc it'd the extra space for a wheelchair. I thanked the lady and said goodbye to her.
«Hey, how are you?», I asked and heaved myself up to give him a kiss.
«Better. I'm still not allowed to lift heavy weight though, Shizuka's been very grumpy about it.», he laughed amused.
I'd been in a coma for seven days after that night. I'd a large laceration above my right eye, a medium-heavy concussion and while only my patella and joint were fractured at first, I also ruptured a ligament in my ankle at my attempt to exit the car.
Even though, I'd first asked about Sōma when I woke up. Luckily, he only dislocated his shoulder joint with his throw. A day after that, he and Fujita came for a visit and updated me everything.
The police had arrested inspector Hara, who, on his fathers orders, had came to our home to, as he said, just scare us off a bit. His father, who'd been called by his middle son about the facility, didn't even know its still in use until then after he gave it up. Nonetheless, he wanted to stop every little infromation of his involvement from going public and had ordered his youngest son, who himself knew where I was living, to take care of it.
The only Hara, who really seemed to be innocent, was the oldest son, Hideaki. He only had called his father because he recognized me and the factory had been involved in illegal business with Korea. So by now, every Hara, apart from the mother and her father-in-law, sat in pre-trial custody. The factory had been closed first and all evidence had been secured thoroughly. After that, it'd been given to the government to manage, because they didn't know what to do the former workers and the factory had always been a big part of the local economy.
The fire had almost destroyed everything inside the underground rooms and halls. Sora and Daiskue had been the ones, who brought everything to light afterwards, so after the investigations where over, the town placed a memorial and a little tumbstone there for the lost lives. The body of Shigeru Hara was now in the custody of the forensic medicine. The case itself obviously went viral on the media and caused a chorus of outrage within the population. Councilor Hara lost both his post and every last one of his privileges and the Hara family name became some kind of cuss word. The mother and her father-in-law already abandoned the estate and moved away after everything came to light.
Daisuke and Dr. McLouis really became lovers and he moved in together with Akane. They also had asked Sora to live with them, which I'd mixed feelings about. Of course I was happy for him to found his mother again, but I also had found myself to become quite attached to him in the short period of time we know each other. I'd miss him greatly.
«How's Sora? Did you hear from him again?», I asked Sōma while I, already experienced, heaved myself out of the wheelchair and into the car.
«You can ask him himself when we're home.», he said smiling after everything was packed and he'd sat himself beside me, «We'll also need a third nursery in the future. So I took myself the liberty to look for a new home already.»
