The New Diamond

The World is Purple

All I saw at first was light. Then my vision slowly began to clear. I looked up and saw many different kinds of gems standing everywhere. But the ones who stood out to me most, looked almost like me. They looked at me, some with smiles and some looking confused. I stood up, trying not to lose balance. The littlest gem standing with those others on the balcony looked at me with excitement and happiness. I couldn't help but smile. "Excuse me?" a voice said from below. I looked down and saw I little gem looking up at me. "Please join the other diamonds on the balcony at this time." she said. A diamond? I'm a diamond? 

As I made my way up the stairs, as I passed other gems they bowed. "Please say hello to your new family." the Peridot said. They smiled at me. "Um..Hi. C-can you please tell me your names?" I asked shyly. They all introduced themselves. The littlest was named Pink, she was the one who looked at me with joy. "Come my child." White Diamond spoke, "We shall bring you to the palace. There we shall show you your room so you may get settled. Then there will be a celebration to welcome you into the world." "Thank you, uh.." My voice trailed off. "Is something the matter?" she asked. "No, nothing is wrong. Just what do I call you?" She smiled. "You may call me either mother or White. Same with your father." I nodded and followed them onto a ship. 

I arrived at the palace. "It's huge!" I proclaimed. "Yes it is. Mother and father did some improvements on it not two centuries ago." Blue said to me. I smiled. I followed Blue, Pink, Green, and Orange down a hallway. "Where did Yellow and Orange go?" I asked. Green and Blue looked at each other. They shared a rather suspicious look. "Um, they rather don't like social events. They probably retired to the Common Hall." she said. "Common Hall?" I repeated. "Oh yes!" Pink exclaimed. "It's a magnificent room. Filled with art and books and comfy places to sit and relax." "But when do Red and Yellow ever relax?" Orange said. The other diamonds laughed. But I didn't. Were they upset that I was made? Did they even like me? Or was I a disappointment from the moment I came alive?

"Here is your room." Blue Diamond said. "Mine is just down the hall. And Pink's is right there." She pointed to a door on the opposite wall. "If you need either of us just call out our names, alright?" I nodded as she closed the door. I looked around. It was a beautiful room. A queen sized bed was placed between these two giant windows. A desk and vanity were close by as well as several empty book cases. A wardrobe was overlooking the entire room. I opened it up and gasped with surprise. There were many beautiful dresses hanging there. Some long, some short. Some with patterns and some without patterns. But the thing that stood out most to me was a long black and light purple robe. I walked over to the mirror. I looked at myself in awe. My hair was long, curly and purple. My eyes were also purple. I looked at my clothes, a black vest with a long purple skirt. I smiled. This was the first time I had saw my reflection. I liked it. 

I walked down the stairs, trying to find my way to the party. I must have walked through the same hallways for the tenth time. "Now what do I do?" I asked myself and sat down on a bench. A noise came from one of the doors. I stood up and walked towards it. I peeked inside and saw Yellow and Red. Mother and father were there as well. I listened to what they were saying..
