JAKE was in a really good mood the next day, all smiles and giggles. Jay had stared him down with a questioning gaze, but soon brushed it off, opting to rather see his close friend happy and not a walking ball of stress and anxiety.
"Not that I don't LOVE you skipping through the halls like a little child on their way to the candy shop, but mind telling me what's gotten you so happy?"
Jake stopped in his tracks, the sudden realization of his actions catching him off guard. He sheepishly turned back around to Jay, the embarrassing blush creeping up his neck.
"Nothing much, I'm glad about the progress I made yesterday," the brunette smiled, now walking at the same pace as his friend.
"You're really cramming for this, aren't you?" The blonde asked back, softly pushing Jake to the side, allowing the two of them to make their way towards the lockers in the basement section.
"I need to do good, it would be great for the apprenticeship," Jake explained, jogging lightly down the stairs, trying to not slip on the narrow steps.
"I see," his friend hummed back, walking towards the lockers that were designated for the seniors, "so, what is this study hack that got you through three hours of physics trivia?"
Jay laughed, shoving a few of his books into his locker, his tone light and free.
"Oh, uh, you know," Jake stuttered out, "just a few flashcards, some memorizing, and a little help from Sunghoon."
The blonde hummed in understanding, yet stopped shorty after, turning his neck towards Jake so fast he might've pulled a muscle.
"With who now?" His friend questioned, eyebrows raised high, "how in the hell did you get Park Fucking Sunghoon to help you?"
Jake shrugged shyly, biting on his bottom lip in hopes of controlling the smile that was breaking loose.
"Stop acting all shy and cute, tell me everything! You got your damn crush to study with you and didn't tell me right away?"
Jake was taken aback, the baffle noticeable in his tone, "Wh-What crush?"
Jay rolled his eyes, closing his locker in a hurry before swinging his arm over the brunette's shoulder, "oh, please, your googly eyes for him is something that's hard to miss."
Jake stopped dead in his tracks, looking at this best friend with pure terror in his face, "Y-You could tell?"
The blonde shook his head, grabbing onto Jake's soft hoodie sleeve, pulling him along the stairs toward the second floor to get to their homeroom class, "you're not really subtle, you know that?"
"Noooo," Jake cried out in English, his voice breaking slightly at the end as he fell dramatically onto his knees, "please tell me you're joking. I was doing so good with hiding this stupid little crush."
"Get up, you're getting your pants dirty," Jay hoisted the younger up, patting his knees as he dragged them toward the second staircase that would take them upstairs.
"Stop freaking out, I'm sure no one else knows," he assured, "besides, more than half of the school has a crush on him, it wouldn't shock anyone if you were part of that percentage."
Jake's shoulders sagged as he got dragged by his sleeve, not even caring how it might rip or get damaged from Jay's harsh grip, "you're not making me feel better about this."
"Stress about this next week, this week you have bigger issues to focus on than a lanky athlete who probably kicks glass bottles for fun."
Jake huffed, detaching himself from the blonde, "don't assume things you don't know."
