HARRY'S POV
*****************
My frustration was boiling inside of me of not having the invisibility cloak. I felt naked without it.
A few hours ago, Hagrid told us he couldn't speak to those demigods without it being suspicious, as they don't have his class (Care of Magical Creatures). Then, it seems as though they always have someone watching us: Hazel was tailing us after breakfast, the Annie girl kept staring at me during Transfiguration, and even toolbelt kid went to the bathroom at the same time as me. It's all too carefully planned to be coincidences.
"Should we just expose them to the school?" Ron said. It was our afternoon free period in the common room. Those demigods were nowhere to be seen.
"Frankly, I'm all up for seeing what the other seventh years think of them being demigods on a possible secret mission," I said, scribbling down another sentence of my essay. "Gods, stealing, weapons and knives, seeing the future, evil enemies attacking Hogwarts again, dragons... oh boy, how would everybody react?"
"No, let's not be impulsive," Hermione said. "We must gather more information. Then we can expose them if it's a dire emergency or if they are truly iniquitous. Ron, stop copying my essay!"
Ron made a grab for the paper in her hand. "Hermione, I'm only peeking at it!"
Ginny suddenly came up to us, flushed. "Harry!" she said and handed me a sign-up sheet. "I know it's been so long since there has been an actual game, but I hope your skills have not deteriorated. McGonagall told us that quidditch will be resuming this year, and we need teammates! I've already tacked up flyers on every bulletin board. Just hang this on the notice board and wait for players to sign up for tryouts."
"Oh! Thanks, Ginny!" I said as she sat next to me. "Ugh, I totally forgot about quidditch. Last year was such a fiasco."
"Eh, mate, am I still gonna be the keeper?" Ron asked. Hermione found this as a moment of distraction and seized her essay back triumphantly.
"You're the best keeper I've ever seen since Oliver Wood left," I told him. "And Ginny, are you still up for being a chaser?"
"Of course!" she exclaimed eagerly.
Hermione made a tut-tut sound disapprovingly. "Harry, as the captain, you should know that allowing friends into the team can lead to the downfall of Gryffindor. In our sixth year, we barely managed to steal the victory from Slytherin."
Ron looked at her, aghast. "Since when were you so interested in quidditch, Hermione? I thought you said it was a boy's thing?"
"Oh, come off it. It's our official last year here, and I don't want you guys sulking because Draco and his snotty team won. The loss could damage your mood towards your future! No one from the Ministry would hire a grumpy bumblebee."
Leave it to Hermione to care about our careers. "Fine, fine," I grumbled, but not even her motherly attitude could damper my spirits. I haven't flown on a broomstick in a long time, and I crave the thrill of flying freely across the field more than anything... except getting my cloak back, of course. "I'll have Ginny and Ron participate in the tryouts too, but I know nobody will beat them." I got up and taped the sign-up sheet onto the center of the common room bulletin board. "I'll have tryouts tomorrow night. And if Cormac McLaggen signs up, Dumbledore help me."
Ginny wrinkled her nose. "Oh, was he that insolent keeper that substituted for keeper after Ron got poisoned?"
I nodded. "Yep, the boy who knocked a bludger into my head and broke my skull. Ah, good times, good times."
