ANNABETH'S POV

**********************

The next day, we headed back to camp for the last day. The day after, we would be heading back to Hogwarts to gather our stuff. I couldn't wait to go see the castle again; I loved the gothic style so much. I might even design a building in Olympus in the same, medieval way.

When we swam back to camp and surfaced the water, we found chaos ensuing. Just outside the border was a huge chimera, and the few campers staying for the winter were trying to defeat it. The thing is, chimeras are AMAZING at dodging attacks. It roared ferociously and swiped at Travis, who barely managed to dive behind a wrecked tree trunk for protection.

The squad looked petrified.

Chiron cantered over to us, calm with a sense of fear in his eyes. "We need to defeat the chimera as soon as possible. A new camper, Maia, is being brought in by Grover any minute," he said gravely.

"On it," Percy said, unsheathing Riptide from its pen cap.

"What is that thing?" Harry gasped, trying to pull out his sickle with great difficulty.

"A chimera. It's a Greek monster who has a head of a lion, the body of a goat, and the tail of a serpent. We need to get rid of it. Sure, there's a magical border around camp that prevents any monster from entering, but the chimera would still be a bother. Your magic is Greek, technically speaking, so it should work." I concluded, pulling out my drakon bone sword.

They blinked in confusion. Ginny opened her mouth. "Uh..."

"So are you going to help defeat it?" I asked sassily as my friends ran to assist.

Percy would be so proud of me.

"Oh, er, yes!" they squeaked and cautiously ran towards the monster. I looked around for Percy. The chimera roared again and lashed its claws, swiping at him. He slammed onto the ground, blooding trickling from a gash on his arm and a bloody nose. Oh, that's it. NO ONE hurts Percy (except me, of course).

I rushed to his aid, just as Harry put a well placed curse on the beast.

"AVADA KEDAVRA!" he yelled ardently. The monster yelled in agony and turned on Harry.

"That should have-" he started, but then paused in puzzlement as the chimera rushed him. Suddenly, Percy leaped up onto its body and raced along its back (oh, thank the gods he wasn't unconscious), and stabbed his sword into its skull. The monster dissolved into yellow dust and a cheer arose from the campers. Percy landed with a graceful thud on the grass.

He looked up at me and gave me a nice, sweet kiss.

"Hero, as always," I teased.

"Shut up," he said back. He unlocked from my lips and looked to the road below.

"Grover's here," was all he said. I didn't think he still had the empathy link, but I guess he did. A couple moments later, Grover ran up the hill with a blue haired girl of about 15 years old. She was beautiful, prettier than the prettiest Aphrodite girl.

Grover walked up, the girl in tow.

"This is Maia Quinn." he panted, catching his breath.

"Hello," she said timidly. I stuck my hand out to her and we shook. The other campers ogled her in distaste.

"We literally saved a girl who is too pretty to even try to help. I can't believe she waited until we were done," Drew whispered using her charmspeak. Everybody else started to agree. Maia looked around, heartbroken.
