ANNABETH'S POV

*********************

Ever since we revealed out identity to Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Ginny, things have gotten a bit strange. They asked a lot of questions, and that's saying something, considering I'm the one stating that. Meanwhile, we've been Iris-messaging Chiron about what we should do now. He suggested that we invite them to visit Camp Half-Blood to be the official Ambassadors of the Wizarding People. When we confided them, they were so excited. Maybe too excited. We scheduled a meet date and decided for them to come during Christmas break. We figured the little amount of campers would help them get used to it.

Just before Christmas, the woman who met us when we first got to Hogwarts--Ron's mother, I believe--came to wish her son and daughter "a Happy Christmas". I never got why they don't say Merry Christmas there. Happy Christmas makes no sense whatsoever. Anyway, as we headed out, we didn't look back at the medieval-style magical castle; we didn't need to. We missed camp A LOT, and I was itching to play a Christmas capture the flag game.

This time, instead of going back using the Floo network, we went the demigod way.

We waited by the coast of the rocky beach/island, watching the waves crashing on the shore. The squad waited, nervous as to what we were waiting for. Percy looked at his watch, which was actually a super cool shield in disguise. His cyclops brother Tyson forged it for him a few years ago.

"They're late," Percy grumbled.

"They probably stopped for donuts," Leo answered back.

"Who's late?" Ginny asked. "And why are they getting donuts?"

"Oh, you'll see; it's our ride," Percy replied, looking in the distance

"Well, rides," I corrected as I saw 7 familiar figures flying through the air, and one skimming the surface of the water.

"Arion!" Hazel cried joyfully as the chestnut-golden horse neighed and trotted over to her. She fed him a gold nugget, to his satisfaction.

"Did that horse just--" Harry began.

"Welcome to our world. Here, nothing makes sense," Jason said, patting the fellow wizard on the back.

"Yeah. My mom was made from sea foam," Piper commented.

When the pegasi landed, the squad gawked at them.

"Get on. Pick a ride. Two to a Pegasus" Percy explained to them.

Harry glanced at all of the rides. "Ginny and I'll take the black one."

Blackjack whinnied.

"I know, I'll ride you... Yeah, yeah.... Maybe when we get back I'll get you some," Percy said with no context at all. That's the problem when he communicates to equestrian animals--the one-sided conversations were difficult to comprehend.

Blackjack knickered and scornfully glimpsed at Arion.

Percy stroked Blackjack's mane. "I know he is. I swear, he cusses worse than a sailor."

"Are...are you talking to the horse?" Ron asked, evidently bewildered.

"They prefer the term 'pegasus', but yes, I am. Oh, and Harry, Blackjack is mine. Sorry, he doesn't like to have any other rider. You can take Porkpie; he's the white-haired one."

"And I thought being able to speak Parseltongue was complicated," Harry muttered.

"What about that stormy one?" Hermione wondered, looking at the blob of swirling wind configured into a vague horse shape.

"That's Tempest. He's mine," Jason answered and hopped on.

After we finally got everybody safely situated on their respective steeds (the squad was obstinately terrified of the pegasi), we flew off. Hazel, Frank, and Arion shot past us on the ocean. We figured they'd arrive at camp a couple hours before us.

"How long will it take?" Harry asked. He was white-faced and gripping Porkpie's mane way too harshly.

"10 hours, at least," I estimated. "England is very far from Long Island, you know." Over to my right, Thalia groaned; she seemed just as uncomfortable and vomiting-prone as the squad. We flew through the wind, homeward bound.
