Maria and I have been dating for about a month and a half.
I insisted that we do a couples costume for Halloween.
"I'm not dressing like a stupid cartoon character!" She said, throwing a shoe at me. Luckily they weren't heels.
Eliza would have dressed up in a heartbeat- wait no. No more thinking about Eliza. It's over. She's gone. I scolded myself.
I gave in and didn't dress up.
"Are we at least going to hand out candy to the little kids that come by?" I asked. That was always Eliza's favourite part but Maria gave me a shocked look.
"Did you forget we're going to Charles' party?" She said like I was a complete idiot.
Charles Lee.
"I forgot.. sorry." I said, recalling how much he hated Lee.
What am I getting myself into. I think.

A few hours later, we were almost ready to go. Maria was wearing a very short sleeveless dark red dress.

"What on earth do you think you're wearing." Maria asked, her voice filled with disgust.
I looked down at what I was wearing. "Uh a sweatshirt and jeans?" I said, more as a question.
She started yelling. Something about me ruining her night if I went to the party like this and how I would embarrass her in front of her friends. She made me change into a suit that matches her dress, then yelled at me for taking too long.
Eliza never yelled at me.
Eliza never dragged me to parties.
Millions of thought about Eliza circled through my head.
Why am I thinking about Eliza again!? It's over! I scolded myself again.
When I was ready, Maria basically dragged me to Lee's house.
When we got there, she pulled my by the arm until she let go to get drinks and I lost her.
There were so many people but I didn't know anyone. There my have been over 100 people there.
I ended up walking around a bit, hoping to find Maria. We crossed paths a few times but she was very drunk. Someone must have spiked the punch.
Eventually I found a quiet room away from all the people and music.
I opened the door and some girl with an octopus costume came out of the room, each tentacle slapped me in the face. I think the person in the costume was Mia. She's a wild card.
I stepped into the room thinking it was empty but a voice spoke.
"Oh- um... I can go if you want to be alone.." said the voice. It sounded oddly familiar.
"Eliza!?" I half screamed. "Since when do you go to parties?" I asked.
"Since Peggy dragged me here... um.. I should go." She whispered the last part.
She started walking put of the room but I grabbed her arm and pulled her close to me.
"Alex.. you have a girlfriend..." she whispered.
I sighed. Sure, Maria made me popular but she was a real jerk all the time.
"The only girlfriend I want is you." I said, bending down a bit to kiss her.
She graciously accepted the kiss.
"WE'RE OVER!" Screamed a voice from the door.
Maria.
Of course she walked in. She always walks in. Even when she's too drunk to understand.
"Good!" I said as she walked away in a huff.
I laughed a bit and kissed Eliza again.
"I'm so sorry for leaving you... I'm a real jerk." I admitted.
She smiled and hugged me. It felt good to be loved again.
"So I'm guessing you're taking me back?" I asked with a chuckle. She nodded and tightened the hug. She always did that when she was happy. I'm glad I could make her happy again.
