Australopithecus deyiremeda was discovered very recently in 2011 by Yohannes Haile-Selassie and his research team. This species lived around 3.5 mya to 3.3 mya during the same time as both afarensis and platyops. A piece of the mandible and upper jaw were the big discovery of this species and it is seen to have very small human-like teeth. Teeth of this small size were not yet seen in any other species until the genus Homo. It is amazing that such a find was made in this species, although most do have relatively small teeth it must have been a sock to find this species that had such human-like teeth. It likely caused some confusion as to whether this species should belong to the genus Homo, its ape-like features definitely decided their choice for them.
