It is rather disconcerting to learn about the short amount of time that all of these species got to spend on the Earth. To think that modern Homo sapiens have not been on this planet for very long and trend says that they are likely to not make it too much further though it likely will not happen for a good few generations. Lucy may be the most well-known Australopithecus but there are many others that matter just as much as she. If only it was possible to teach generally about all of these species outside of a class that is specialized for it. No matter if a species is proven to not actually be a part of this genus, they are still an important part of the evolutionary history that led to the species alive today.
