Niall POV
I immediately darted outside my room when the lovely aroma of freshly cooked bacon and eggs hit my nose. I found myself clutching the kitchen door frame when I saw Selena standing there with an apron hovering over her body.
What is she doing here?
Instantly, I felt a strike of pain rush towards my forehead and an urge to throw up.
"The trashcan is besides the fridge by the way. I prefer you use the toilet though. Except I could careless since this is your house," Selena stated.
I hastily sprinted towards the trashcan and groaned loudly. From the corner of my eye, I saw Selena cringe. As I finished up, I wiped my mouth with my forearm.
"That's what you get for drinking while the hunters are loose," she sighed. She handed me a glass and two asprin pills. I swiftly took them.
"Sorry," I huffed once I gulped down the pills. She gave me a small smile but I already knew that smile was fake. Selena never laughs nor does she ever smile. But right now, she was doing this for me. I don't know why, but it makes me feel guilty.
I sat down on the nearest chair and instantly laid my head down on the table.
"Can I please have some bacon?" I begged while fluterring my eyeslashes at her.
"Sure," she chipped.
I automatically grinned, "Really?!"
"No," she hissed. My smile immediately faded.
"Your playing with my feelings," I muttered.
She approached the table with some bacon and eggs on a plate.
"Here," she offered, handing me the plate, "I wasn't hungry anyways."
She smoothly slipped into the chair besides me, letting her chin rest upon her hand as her elbow supported her arm. Her eyes bore into mine, making me hesitantly look away. Her eyes were like stone, showing no gleam nor glitter. They were no longer smiling like they used to when she was young. It's no wonder Alec is so worried about her. What exactly happened when she went missing that one stormy night?
"What are you thinking about?" Selena wondered, bringing me back to reality, "You paused as you were going to shove some eggs into your mouth."
I gently placed my spoon down and turned towards her, which took her by surprised.
"What happened?" I questioned, "What happened that night you went missing?"
She bit her lip and looked down towards her lap.
"I'm not ready to talk about it," she sighed, "I honestly never want to talk about it."
"It's fine," I assured, "I didn't want to know that badly anyways."
I turned back towards my food and continued eating.
That was a lie. I did want to know. I want to know so badly that it's slowly killing me.
It's none of my buisness. I already know that. Except, I can't help myself.
My curiosity is the one thing that makes up who I am.
Niall.
Harry's POV
The bright light peeked through the curtains, making my vision slightly blurred. I pushed my blanket away from me as I climbed off my bed. I hurried towards the restroom, which was right across my room, and gave myself a cold face wash. I then brushed my teeth quickly and left the restroom to go to the living room. I smelled cooked bacon and eggs coming from the kitchen. I simply ignored it and continued walking towards the living room. I grabbed the remote from the table in front of me and turned on the TV. I plopped down on the couch, focusing my eyes on the screen.
Although it may look like I'm paying attention, I really wasn't. My mind was somewhere else.
*Flashback*
"Harry, can you do me a favor?" my mother asked as she turned on the fauset, rinsing her hands, "I need to cook dinner for a special guest."
I rolled my eyes as I stared at the TV screen. It was probably for my soon to be step-father.
"No, do it yourself," I replied.
"Sweetheart please," she begged, "I know your still worked up about Selena's disappearance, but I really could use a hand."
I paused from hearing Selena's name come across my mother's mouth. I played it off with a yawn.
"Mom, I'm going to sleep."
I headed towards my room, but just as I was about to lie down, I heard a loud scream.
I darted towards the kitchen, finding my mother on the ground. She was curved into a small ball as she held her stomach.
My body froze in terror as soon as I felt a cold blade on my throat.
"Move and your mother dies," a low voice threatened.
I hesitated before I shoved him off me. I instantly bend down to check if she was okay.
Her body was getting colder by the minute. I stared down at her face, trying not to look at the puddle of blood in front of me.
"Mom," I cried as I held her in my arms, "Please don't leave me."
"Tell me where she is!" the man demanded as he sat up, "Tell me where your little girlfriend is."
I shook my head, "I-I don't know."
"Don't lie do me!" he accused.
"I swear I'm not," I admit.
Suddenly, I felt my mom drop restless. My eyes widen when I noticed she was no longer with us.
The man immediately aimed a small pistol on my forehead.
"Go ahead. Kill me," I glared, pushing myself closer.
He smirked, "On second thought, I think I'll let you live."
The man walked away and soon disappeared. I shut my eyes as I felt tears spilling. Every little sob grew louder and louder until I started bawling.
I felt alone and helpless. I should have helped out my mom before. If I helped her, I would at least have the chance to stop this.
I am so selfish.
And that's never something to be proud for.
*Flashback Ended*
I exhaled loudly as I turned away from the TV.
I miss her so much. I can still picture the gentle green eyes and the sweet smile she would give me every morning when I woke up.
Life kidnapped Selena. Life stole my mother away from me. After those stupid faults, it filled my heart with pure darkness. Now nothing can heal my heart. It will always be swollen and I will always feel as if I am slowly dying.
"Good morning, Harry," a soft voice greeted. I immediately looked up and stared at the deep set of chocolate brown eyes.
I scooted back slightly, shocked to see her here.
"What are you doing here?" I interrogated harshly.
She flinched at my words, glancing at Niall.
He simply nodded once and answered for her.
"She's joining our school for a bit."
I was confused. Why does she need to join our school?
I stood up and walked away, "Whatever, do what you want."
