Chapter 6 - Oblivious

Alec's POV

"Where did you get this car? I don't recall seeing this model in any of the car companies," Ashley mentions.

"That's because I made it," I claimed.

"You made this?!" Ashley gasps.

"Yeah," I shrug, "Selena can make cars as well. It's simple."

Ashley smiles, "That's to expect out of a Parker."

But Dad's are far better.

His has more technology, better gun power and much easier to control.

"Where are you taking us?" Lucy asks.

"To base," I answered.

"And where is that exactly?"

"Somewhere in the forest," I reply.

"In the forest?!" she cried.

"Yeah the forest," I repeat, "That's what I just said."

"Are you crazy?!" she retorts, "Are you asking to be killed?! I'm not going into the forest! There are probably more zombies surrounding that area! Have you ever thought of that?!"

"There's zombies everywhere, but not all humans have transformed yet."

"What do you mean?" she hissed.

"I mean, the infection has just now spreaded. The zombies you've seen is probably only .02% of the population which is pretty little compared to the whole wide world. Trust me, it's so much safer in there than it is anywhere else. Plus, I build the base so you don't have to worry so much," I explain.

Selena's POV

While Lucy and Alec are having their own conversation, Vanessa, Ashley and I catch up on our own.

"I haven't seen Niall in a such a long time," Vanessa smirks, "He's changed."

"You haven't seen him for a long time?! Doesn't he go to your school?!" I comment, cocking my left eyebrow at her.

"He skips school," Vanessa hastily informs, "Today was the only day he actually attended. I think it was because you are back."

I chuckle, "Yeah, he knows I'll kick his ass for skipping."

Suddenly, Niall jumps into our conversation.

"You made Selena laugh!" he howled, "What were you guys talking about?!"

We all went silent.

"Awe! Come on! Tell me!" he whines, "I want to know how to make her laugh!"

Vanessa awkwardly shifts in her seat when Niall closen up on her face.

Suddenly the car stops, making Niall fall on top of Vanessa.

Ashley and I looked at each other as we contained our giggles.

Niall was so oblivious.

The car pulls over to the side of the road, "It's getting dark," Alec says.

"Let's just sleep here for tonight," Zayn suggested.

"Good idea," I blurted.

Everyone nods as we start to get comfortable. Niall immediately apologizes as he gets up to sit next to Harry.

"What if the zombies try to attack us during our sleep?" Lucy questions, a bit of fear in her shaky voice.

"Good question but you don't need to worry. The windows are bullet proof and pretty impossible to break. Etheir way, Katherine will take care of it. There are build in guns with suppressors to shoot enemies. I'm pretty sure we're safe," I inform.

"Thank goodness," she sighs with relief.

He gives her a small promising smile before he pressed a button that made our seats lean down.

"On the side of these seats, there are blankets. You just have to pull them out and your good to go," I acknowledged before shutting my eyelids close.

I hate sleeping.

Because whenever I sleep, my dreams can become my real nightmares.

Lucy's POV

As everyone falls asleep, my mind stays awake.

I hate sleeping.

I remembered sharing that with someone who was close to me.

But I can't remember who.

*Flashback*

"I hate sleeping," I croaked as I stared at Sel's closed eyes.

"I know," she whispered, "I do too."

"I hate sleeping because I feel like the darkness will always be around me. It's like the light having a battle with the dark. What happens if I lose?"

"You'll just have to find your way back into the light again," Sel says, smiling a bit.

"What if I can't?" I ask as I bit my lip.

Sel's eyelids flutter open, "Nothing's impossible. I will always believe in you, Lu."

"Always?"

"Always," she confirms.
