i woke up to the sound of bacon sizzling on the stove and the delicious aroma filling nose. my eyes fluttered open and i remembered where i was from the night before - on jack and jack's floor.
"fuck this little bird." sam groaned, tossing his phone off the sofa and next to me on the puffy comforter.
"bird?" i questioned, sitting up and rubbing my eyes sleepily.
"flappy bird. i can't beat my score!" sam groaned, shoving his hand in the waistband of his boxers. that was a normal thing for him to do, but he wasn't jacking off, it was just a natural movement.
"no one even plays that game anymore. what's your highscore?"
"469." sam answered as i slipped my leggings back on that were stuffed into my bag since someone couldn't sleep with any light on. *cough cough*, nate.
"four, sixty-nine?" i raised an eyebrow.
"breakfast is ready, so get your hand out of your pants, sam." jack g called from the kitchen while sam bit his lip, smirking at me from my questioning of his score.
we all got our servings of food and then sat down at the dining room table to eat.
"so rilee, you remember taylor caniff, right?" gilinsky asked me before taking a sip of orange juice.
i nodded, biting a piece of bacon, "the one that tried to toss me in the pool awhile back? yeah, i remember him."
"sam and i are going to take a little vacation with him and dillon this week.." jack motioned with his head towards sammy who was focused on buttering his toast.
"dillon?" i asked, unsure of who that was.
"dillon rupp. they both live in indiana, and us four are going to head off to new york."
"you'll be back before graduation, right?" i was looking jack right in the eye from the other end of the table.
"rilee, they're not stupid. of course they'll be back before graduation day." johnson sassed me.
i playfully stuck my tongue out at him.
"yes, we'll be back before graduation. we leave tomorrow.." sam jumped into the conversation.
i choked on the water i was sipping, "tomorrow?!" but all jack and sammy did was nod.
"don't worry,", nate leaned down the table towards me, "if you get sexually frustrated, i'll be here for you.", he winked.
i rolled my eyes and then looked down at my plate, "how long will you guys be gone?"
"four days, that's it." jack g said calmingly.
"you'll be fine without us. plus you have johnson and nate here." sam smiled, and i looked over at jack j.
he was catapulting grapes into nate's mouth by using a spoon from across the table. i sighed knowing i'd be stuck with those two idiots for four days.
"nate and i don't even get along!" i whined which caught nate's attention.
"that's true, she's so mean to me." he nodded at sammy.
"well maybe you two can work it out while we're gone." jack g shrugged before resuming to stabbing his scrambled eggs.

next day:
"they're here.", jack g spoke quietly as he watched the car outside pull into the driveway. sam and he had packed their things and all four of us were already standing around the door waiting for taylor and dillion to arrive.
my hands were nervously stuffed into the back pockets of my black skinny jeans. they've never left me in nebraska without them before and i've been panicking this whole morning.
jack stepped forward and embraced me into a hug. i hugged him back tightly, closing my eyes and taking in his scent one last time before he left. he pulled back and kissed my forehead, then looked down at me with a small smile, "i'll call you everyday, okay?"
i nodded and he stepped away so sam could say goodbye to me.
sammy playfully picked me up and i giggled, wrapping my legs around his waist. "ahh, there we go." he mumbled into the crook of my neck, knowing i was succesfully in his arms once again.
"i'll tuck you into bed over facetime, okay baby girl?" he whispered, leaving a small kiss on my jawline and then looking into my eyes.
"sounds good." i whispered back and he smiled contently, placing me back on the hardwood floor.
the doorbell rang and johnson opened it as i stepped back, next to nate.
"take care of her while we're gone, okay?" jack g stood directly in front of nate with a serious tone lingering in his voice.
"it's only a few days,", nate chuckled, "and it's not like she's your property."
"she kind of is." jack's voice was deep and serious. he wanted nate to know how important i was to him, that if any sign of slight danger could happen to me, he and sam would be back in omaha in an instant.
they were both beyond, protective over me, and i loved it. it made me feel safe. but it's lead to one of my biggest fears, i only feel safe in either sammy or gilinsky's arms. no one else's. i feel safer in jack's jeep than my own house. but i couldn't ever get back to my normal state of mind.
they've ruined me.
i've become addicted,
addicted to them, and everything we do.
