On our way, we heard a car horn and we turned round to meet our Uncle. We ignored him and continued our journey. He increased his driving speed towards us and blocked our way.
"What is it? You wizard? " Anita yelled angrily at my Uncle
"Anita calm down " I said
"And Uncle what do you want?" I asked my Uncle as he stepped out of his car
"Amanda am sorry for everything that I brought upon you. I didn't know that it will result in pregnancy" he tried to apologize and Anita rolled her eyes in an insolent manner
"Really? You thought copulating without protection will lead to childlessness. Uncle just leave me alone " I said trying to walk away but he gripped my wrist.
"The Doctor said that I can't have a child that is why I can't believe am the father of that child you are carrying. For now I don't know who is lying, but __________" he was about saying more when I interrupted him
"But what? Uncle you have been the only one that has raped me on several occasion, in the morning, afternoon, evening and at night in the name of having fun. Now that I am pregnant you are playing innocent. If you don't want us to create a scenein this place just leave us alone" I said and I could see Anita widening her eyes
"I will but let me lodge you both in an hotel so that ________"
"So that you can continue raping me and even rape my kid sister alongside, it will not happen "
"I wasn't trying to say that. I just want you both to be safe especially with the unborn child. I really want you to keep the baby Amanda. Please" he was about to kneel down when Anita shouted
"Uncle stop! Just stop!! Enough of this conversation. Good bye " she grabbed my hand and we walked away leaving my Uncle behind.
We entered and uncompleted building with just the decking, we picked up some carton outside the building and spread inside as our mat, then we arranged our bags in the corner.
"Sister you didn't tell me that Uncle kept on messing you up and I was thinking its was just once" Anita said as we sat on the carton
"Even if I told you what difference would it had made? I just got used to it, the harm as already been done, life goes on " I tried not to cry again.
In the night we laid down on the carton, it started raining and everywhere was cold including the floor, I covered Anita who was already shivering with wrapper. The rain later subsided by then Anita was fast asleep and I started perceiving the smell of cigarette which was disturbing me and I sneezed
"Who de dia? " A thunderous voice asked and I was frightened
"Tiger give me that your torch it be like say meat de for consumption " The voice said and I tried waking Anita but she was so deep in her sleep and I couldn't run and leave her
I heard footsteps coming towards us and it was already late for us to escape. A torchlight shone on us. I immediately tapped Anita forcefully so that she woke up but still subconscious of the present event going on.
"We have fresh dinner for tonight " one of the men said and giggled. Fear gripped my heart. They four men came closer to us
"Tiger and Cobra feed on the little one while I and Scorpion will feed on the elder " The man said and felt like the ground should swallow I and Anita
"Please please I beg you don't touch my sister, you can all have me and feed as you want please!! " I pleaded with tears because I didn't want Anita to be disvirgin by anyone.
"Wow that's great. Then I will start the eating once am filled, you guys can continue from where I stop. No body should touch her sister." Their leader as I assumed said
I was happy at least they obeyed my wish. I was crying and screaming as the men took turns in raping me. I sobbed it didn't change anything till they were done with me and they left. I felt sore that I couldn't move from where I was lying down and still crying. When they were fully gone out of sight and we could not hear their voices again, Anita got up from where she was laying face down.
"Sister are you ok? " she asked trying to lift me up
I couldn't answer such a question at that point in time when I knew I wasn't ok
"Sister you wouldn't have pleaded on my behalf at least we are together in this or do you have a dead wish for yourself? "
"Anita ev_em if I _I _I _I _I don't have. I needed to protect you "I managed to say because I was so weak and my strength was sapping out. We couldn't sleep again till morning.
That morning, I managed to get up from the floor I laid, the pains in my private part was severe.
"Sister you need to see a Doctor, because I don't know your fate right now " Anita said with pitiful face while helping me to stand. I only nodded. As Anita helped me to walk out of the building my vision became blur and I went into a blackout.
I woke up in the hospital and I search the ward for Anita but she was no where to be found. I was about to scream when she walked in with a nurse.
"Ah sister you are awake. Thank God"
"What happened? " I asked because I was so curious
"You passed out and when I brought you here, your breathe paused so I just went out not quite long to call the nurse only to come back and see you are awake. " Anita explained and I tried sitting up but the pains will not allow me
"No! You have to lie down till the wound inside heals" The nurse said laying me down properly
"Sister there is goodnews"
"What is it Anita? "
"Your hospital bill has been paid by a good Samaritan " Anita said feeling so excited and the nurse smiled
"But there is also a bad news too " The nurse said and I knew what she was talking about but I had to allow her spill it.
"Due to the forceful rape, you incured a severe injury in your private part and because of that you also lost the baby. Sorry for that " The nurse and hot tears flowed down my cheeks. I felt the coldness of a dark world spank me hard. Anita came close to the bed and sat down, she kept her hand on my shoulder.
"Sister you will be fine put your self together. You are always strong so continue. So the good Samaritan will be coming back in the evening as she said. Anita said wiping away my tears
"Miss urinating will be a bit difficult for you now but once you are healed everything will be normal. If you don't mind please excuse me, I will be back to check on you later" The nurse said before leaving the ward. Anita kept on wiping away my tears.
Some minutes later, another nurse entered the ward.
"Hello sorry for interrupting, someone is here to see you both "
"Let her in" Anita said because I was not ready to utter a word to her. A fair elegant lady walked into the ward and the nurse left closing the door her. The lady was so refulgent
"Hi girls" she greeted but no one was ready to answer her, there was silence for almost five minutes before Anita spake
"Emmmmmm, Sister this is the lady that paid your hospital bill and she is the one that assisted me to bring you here "
"Good evening Ma. Thank you for your assistance " I finally said
"You are always welcome. Let me introduce myself properly.I am Miss Chioma I stay eight miles away from that uncompleted building you girls past the night. Sorry for your bad encounter and experience " she said
I gave her a 'who told you ' look and as if she fathomed the look
"Your sister told me everything " immediately she said that my stomach rumbled loudly enough that the lady and my sister looked at me.
"You need to eat something. Let rush and get you food. Do you mind eating coconut rice or do you have anything in mind? " she asked
"I want to eat noodles instead " I said
"You are a big girl and you want to eat children's food. All the same I will get you noodles and also coconut rice so that it will satisfy you for a long time" she said and I nodded
"I will also eat o o o" Anita cut in
"That's fine. I will be back. " The lady raised up her hands in agreement.
The lady left us in the ward. All I did was to smile.
I and Anita remained silent for a long period of time. Then she started arranging the ward because the place was very scattered.
"Sister I want to dress the bed, I will help you stand up " Anita said
She helped me to stand up. I leaned on the wall still with the drip.
"Madam arranger, I want to lie down oo"
"OK just a second " she said, in no time she was done then she assisted me back to the bed and I laid down gently.
"Who ever did this to you will never go free " Anita cursed trying to hold back tears
"All will be well dear " I said just to console her
Mrs Chioma returned to the ward with two foodflasks and plates inside a sack bag. I managed and sat up on the bed and she served me and Anita the food, we ate as hungry lions.

Parsing up and down in Miss Chioma's parlor, its been two months since I was discharged from the hospital, my thought as been wondering from one place to another. Miss Chioma brought us to her house and she volunteered to be a mother to I and Anita but I wasn't too comfortable staying with her, although am grateful to her because if she didn't come into the picture maybe I would have been an history by now.
"I believe you are strong enough now, so you can join me in the kitchen, I want to cook" Miss Chioma interrupted my thought
"OK Ma. Also Ma I want to thank you once again for accommodating us, once I get a good job we will rent an apartment but I will forever be grateful to you " I said
She smirked at me and walked close to me, she put her right hand on my shoulders.
"My dear there is no point doing that. I am not complaining and perhaps I stay here alone so no one will disturb you both. I may travel because it is part of my hobbies " she chuckled
"But that doesn't mean I won't be back, so feel free this is also your house Ok? "
I nodded
"How are you feeling? Its been two months and you are always silent moody and indoor I believe it was because of the change in environment, but today I was surprised when I saw you in the sitting room. I believe you are fine and better? "
"Yes Ma. Thank you for always having my interest at heart " I said
"Enough of the Ma, you can call me Chioma or Sister and don't thank me again because have received enough. Now let's go to the kitchen. "She dragged me playfully to the kitchen. Since I returned from the hospital this was my first time of entering her kitchen. Her kitchen was big and beautiful.
"You have a beautiful and a wonderful kitchen " I said
"Thank You " she said with a phonetic accent
"Do you stay in this big house all alone? What of your family? " I asked sitting on the kitchen stool. She chuckled and brought out a basin from a particular cupboard.
Her kitchen was so ordered and well kept, also neat.
"This is the only property I inherited from my late father. I don't have a mother, brother nor sister, but I have a lot of girlfriends and male friends, they visit once in a while, you will get to meet them soon and I believe you will like them "she smiled
She poured out goat meat from a nylon into the basin and she fetch water from the tap and washed the meat.
"Sorry about your parents " I said
"It's nothing dear. After all we both have almost the same story, your sister told me how you lost your parents. Mine was a plane crash but have moved on " she said and I was just staring at her like movie, she doesn't look fat or slim, she is just moderate.
"Amanda what is bothering you? " she asked out of the blues as if she was observing which I believe she was.
"I _I _I _I _" I stuttered
"Feel free to ask " she assured
"Sorry to ask, what type of work do you do? " I asked glaring at her
She smiled
"My dear you will get to know with time. Let's continue with the cooking " she said and I felt embarrassed for asking such a question.
