MASTERS OF DARK

It was such a weird thing but traveling in late nights terrified her, perhaps after recent mishaps in late nights, she had grown this phobia but she hated whenever she heard he was traveling via road in late nights.

Today as they tied their seat belts to a long journey ahead she chanted a few holy mantras under her breathe.

"kya Hua, Saree ka dukan... mai sath hai fir bhi dar raha tum?" he mused loosening a few buttons of his shirt.

"Nahi," she hid the terror on her face. "I was praying for others, now that the lion has left his den." she rolled her eyes.

"ahha...so you agree I am a lion." he teased as he left the parking lot and slowly took the turn.

" Ahaṅkārī manuṣ, tyālā vāṭatē kī jaga tyācyābhōvatī phirata āhē" she muttered putting away her earrings on the dash board. (Egoist man, he thinks the earth revolves around him).

It would take them a few hours to reach home and till then she would be tired enough and just need their bed.

"Nēnu oka padānni mātramē arthaṁ cēsukōgaligānu, Ahankari..." he smirked and his eyebrows tilted as if he was enjoying. (I could understand one word only.)

"back to the language we both know." she turned to him and told him sweetly.

" Kānī idi cālā ānandadāyakaṁ." he touched her hand with his free hand. (but I enjoy it when we talk like this).

"Vēḍā māṇūsa." she tried to pull her hands but he gripped it strongly and focused on the roads.

"saamne dhyan do varna sach me sher aa jayega." she told him pulling her hairs to one side.

"achha... bagal me sherni ko dekhega to bhag jayega." he joked and winked at her.

"achha socho, agar ye gaadi idhar ruk jaye to kya krega tum?" he asked leaving her hand and changed the gear for more power into this hilly area they were entering.

"Bappa... tum sach me pagal ho, ye sab baatein kaun karta hai vo bhi itni rat me?" she believed in the legends that said never talk about omens cause they are just waiting to get triggered.

"ek to tumhara har bat me drama..." he laughed and thought something.

"tumse achha to vo Anjali aur baki sab tha... unko Adventure mangta aur mujhe fun." he knew the response he was about to get.

" arey kyu nahi... Mar rahi thi vo tumhare sath adventure karne ko, par tumne to uski hi shadi tod di... bad manner Raghav." she got the upper hand and smirked.

"achha chhodo uska... tum batao kya krega agar ye gaadi abhi ruk gaya?" he came back to his question.

"tum ye bakwas band karoge... gaadi kharab ho gayi..huh." she looked away but turned to him in no time as the passing woods stared at her, she so wanted his hand to cover her.

He kept smiling and then connected his phone to the car's music system.

"dekho, kuchh achha music hona chahiye..." she told him as she eyed his actions.

" Gayatri mantra Laga dun?" he asked her and in return earned some inaudible words. "achha , no jokes... tum thodi der aankhe band karo aur relax karo." he suggested laughing inwardly on his plan.

"nahi, kahte hain driver ke bagal me sone lago to use bhi neend aati hai." she spoke sitting straight.

"arey mai achha gana lagayega, sath me tum gana aur mai bhi gayega." he teased her.
