Dear Diary,
It's been almost a week since school started. Almost a week since I first saw Luna again after summer break. She was on holiday ALL summer, so we couldn't even hang out, but we did write. I didn't notice it at first, but Luna has really changed. Sure, she still talks about the original Nargle, or Oophalumf, or whatever, but she's a lot more, well, normal. And she is more caring. I catch her looking at me a lot.
And I find myself looking at her too.
We walk to every class we have together, together, and I feel like we have become closer this year than we have been in the past. She really is my bestriend. Harry has started looking at Draco in the hallways, who, is it just me, or has he had a bit of character development?! Whenever we ask Harry about it, though, he denies any suspicion. I still have my eyes on him, though.
There are quidditch tryouts tomorrow, on Saturday. Of course, I'm trying out again. Gryffindor tryouts are at 11:00, and the gang is going to go with me down to the pitch to either tryout, (Harry and Ron) or just watch (Luna, Hermione, and Neville). I've been made the Quidditch captain, since Harry resigned as captain last year, as it was too much pressure on him?
Anyway, Luna and I are having a sleepover tomorrow night, after the tryouts (which I have to run!). We'll see how that goes... for some reason I feel nervous.
- Ginny"Ginny!" said Luna "Ginny! Are you theree?" she had zoned out for a bit. They were on break, out in the field next to the forbidden forest. It was Ginny, Luna, Hermione, Harry, and Ron. Neville wasn't there, as they were making up a test already for Potions with Slughorn.
It was very peaceful. The leaves on the trees surrounding them were already turning auburn and brown, red and gold, all the signs of Autumn approaching. It was early this year.
"So," said Hermione, twisting her her hair around her finger continuously, anxiously, "I- we- have some, uhm, news." She and Ron had been exchanging glances all day. Ron said, "Er, yeah, go ahead Hermione."
Hermione shot him a look, and then announced in a slightly nervous voice, "Ron and I- er- are together."
The others all stared at eachother.
"Blimey" said Harry, "big surprise. You've always had some type of chemistry." They all laughed together for a while.
"Yeah," said Hermione, gaining confidence. " It's only been for a few days now." "Well then, looks like the only singles left here are Me, Ginny and Luna." remarked Harry, laughingly, and Ginny thought she could detect some jealousy in his eyes too...
"Oh, cut the bullshit, Harry, we all know there's something between you and Draco" Ron joked. The others all cracked up. "HEY! There is NOT!" said Harry crossly. This just made them all laugh harder.
And eventually Harry laughed too.
"Then, Luna and Ginny... haha. Have any crushes?" smirked Ron. The girls both turned the exact same shade of beet red. Stammering, they both shrugged, looked at eachother, and then looked away, and then around.
"If I didn't know better, I'd think there was something going on between you two!" Laughed Harry.
"Ohh. ha ha- ha- haha..." trailed off Luna nervously.
"Harry!" Said Ginny, going redder, if that was even possible!
"Anyway, are we excited for the sleepover tomorrow Luna? Ginny?" Said Hermione, being more experienced, and wanting change the subject, sensing the tenseness in the air. "Wha-? oh! oh, yeah!" Said Ginny, grateful to Hermione for changing the uncomfortable topic.
Harry's stupid comment had stirred something inside of Ginny. She didn't have any feelings for Luna... did she?
"It's going to be so much fun!"
