"Ginny I haven't seen you all week!"
"I know I've been busy." Luna Frowned at her girlfriend's subtly. Ginny noticed this.
"I'm sorry," She quickly added, making Luna soften up a bit.
"What's wrong?" Luna asked, taking a seat next to the redhead. Ginny's eyes scanned the Great Hall, "Nothing!"
"Ginny you can t-"
"Don't worry Luna." "Really," She added, seeing the unconvinced look on Lunas face.
"You seem anxious lately..."
"Really, I'm fine, but I have to go. I'll see you later, love," She kissed her on the forehead and then rose from her seat and swooped out of the Great Hall.
There was only one week until Christmas and it seemed like the gang had barely started the detention work when really they'd been working nonstop on the mountainous workload thrust on their shoulders. Due to the no-magic rule Snape had put on it, (if they tried to use magic to sort the files, their tongue would get stuck to the roof of their mouth for the rest of the day) it was proving to be horrendous and grueling. They were meeting in secret everyday to confront it, so as Snape didn't find our that they were working together. If he did, he would probably assign Ginny ten times as much work she couldn't afford.

5 days before Yule was the last day of classes before Winter Break. Ginny was putting on a happy face for everyone, especially her girlfriend, because the reason she wanted to finish all that work was to make Luna happy, which would make Ginny happy, right? It had to all be worth it.
Dumbledore's dinnertime speech seemed to go in one ear and out the other to the redhead. She could tell her friends were worried about her, but she couldn't do anything bout it. She felt like she was stranded in the middle of the ocean, with nowhere to go, but down, and the waves were crashing over her and drowning. If she was honest with herself, the detention wasn't the lonesome worry of the redhead.
She had been thinking a lot about going home for Yule, however, she had also been thinking a lot about her mother. Of course, she was the sweetest, most doting mother in probably the universe; but Ginny had also been thinking about Luna. Her and Luna. Together. Dating. Bottom line, she didn't know if her mother could handle her dating a girl. Once Ginny had been making two of her girl dolls look like they were kissing, and her mother had spotted it, and ohhh no, she grabbed her arm and brought her to the kitchen to make Ginny help her with dinner; All the while muttering under her breath.
Ginny gently stood up from the wooden bench she had been sitting on, and left the Great Hall early. She could never just sit still anymore.
Across the entrance hall, down into the dungeons, into the spare classroom. She could've sworn Snape had put more boxes in here- which, she reminded herself, wasn't impossible.
A few stacks of boring Hogwarts reports ranging from fanged frisbee detentions to student of the year, she picked up the sound of footsteps in the hallway. Listening intently, her heart started to race. She hated this, she was so on edge lately. She was slightly relieved when Hermione, Ron, Harry, and Neville entered.
"Ginny, are you ok? You left the feast early." Hermione questioned. Ron's eyes lit up and he added, "Yeah, shame, I swear tonight was the best chicken those elves ever cooked!" Hermione smacked her boyfriend around the head with her tote bag and the others couldn't help but laugh.

Three grueling hours later they were all getting a bit fed up and their tempers were running thin. They kept snapping at each other for stupid things.
"I don't know how much-" Ron began in a moan.
However, Hermione interrupted him with a 'shh'
He looked annoyed at her but then he pointed at her ear, and then to the doorway and the hallway beyond. Soon they all heard it too. A pair of quick-paced, quiet footsteps. Somehow they seemed heavy and quiet at the same time. Ginny's heart dropped into her abdomen, and then felt like it was in her throat. She swallowed he bile that was creeping up her throat and said, "It's Snape."
Hermione quickly whispered something inaudible to Ginny, and seconds later the door creaked open and there stood the greasy black- haired man with those cold, piercing black eyes that seemed to stare right through her own and into her soul.
"Miss Weasley," he said in his usual low-pitched, drawling voice. He definitely resembled a bat, but he didn't sound like one.
"Professor," she responded in the most respectful, innocent voice she could muster.
He stared down at her for what felt like an eternity, and then glanced around the room. Ginny's heart was already racing a mile a minute and at that moment it sped up to one hundred. She too glanced around the room and jolted in surprise. Her friends were... gone. Then she thought of the inaudible thing Hermione had said and realized it was a spell. Her heart leapt and she smirked.
"I wasn't expecting you late at night like this," he drawled. "Well, I just wanted to get it done."
Snape had just opened his mouth to retort something when they heard a shuffle behind where Ginny was standing.
Snape raised his eyebrows. "Are you hiding something from me, Miss Weasley? Or is there some unknown object in this room I should know about?"
"Well, these papers are old, professor, I expect they might attract rodents and bugs." She tried to make her face look believable.
"Right..." stated Professor Snape; he looked unconvinced. "Be gone within the next twenty minutes, or you will get a more severe punishment. You are already breaking nine o'clock curfew.
"Yes, sir."
He left with his cloak performing a dramatic sweeping motion.
"What the bloody hell-" Ron exclaimed when Snape was safely out of earshot.
Ginny jumped. She had temporarily forgotten they were there. She turned around grinning. Her friends had all reappeared. "How did you-" she uttered incredulously. "Disillusionment charm," Hermione responded, looking flushed. "You're amazing, Hermione." She dismissed that with a wave of her hand and suddenly looked alarmed. We should go. Before we get caught-"
"Yeah, then we'd be officially dead," Neville muttered, Harry nodding fervently.
"Yes, thankyou," Hermione pointed at them.
They all shuffled out of the room, talking in hushed but happy whispers. Ginny couldn't help but envy her friends. So happy, seemed to not have a care in the world. Ginny knew it was only a matter of time before she couldn't take it anymore. Before she snapped.
