When 2:45 arrives, I will myself to get off the couch and get dressed. I put on another white sundress, this one kinda flowy at the arms and rim. I wear a golden-bronze necklace. A tiny glass globe sits in the middle, held up by a spheric frame, and a tiny little amity tree inside the globe gives at an amity-boho look. My burkenstocks were highly judged at my old school, but I've never been one to care what other people think. I tie my hair up into a side braid, and drive off to Jay's house.
For once in a long time, I feel really good.
I dance and sing in the car to 'She Knows Ne-Yo' Kayliox remix, flinging myself around the seat. I don't care though, because it's not like anyone's gunna see.
"SAID SHE LOVESSS THE ATTENTIONN
SHE GETSSS WHEN SHE MOVESS
SHOWINNN OUTT WITH HER HOMEGIRLS
AND SHE GOTT ME WATCHIN TOOOO YA SHE KNOW-" In the middle of my fantastic jam session, I look to my left, and there sits Jay, in his car, staring at me.
Fuck.
Well, there's only one thing I can do now.
Dance.
I turn the music up as Enrique Inglesias comes on, and fling my hair around.
"Ya baby there you go,
Stealing my heart just like a criminal,"
I point to him and run my fingers through my hair as I dance like a crazy person. He laughs his ass off, and it makes me laugh, too.
He motions for me to turn my music down.
"Save some of that for the ball!" He says, just as the light turns green.
I smile to myself, and we both drive down the same road to his house.
