It had been about a day since we had gone to the memorial. Now I was standing next to a hospital bed and once again Rae was in it. She tried to save someone after he jumped out of a building. It was a suicide, I didn't know the man personally.
When Raelle's eyes fluttered open my heart skipped a beat.
"You could have died." I said sternly.
"I know, I'm sorry I just... I couldn't stop myself." She had tried to take the man's pain and by doing so almost died. I sighed before sitting on the edge of her bed.
"Everyone's proud of you Rae. That kind of bravery can't be taught." She looked confused.
"I keep having these visions. They feel like they are memories, but they aren't mine."
"Anacostia said you took on a lot. She also said the visions will fade." I told her.
"It's not just that. I could feel his... feelings. He was afraid." She looked at me. "I don't think he wanted to die.
-TIME SKIP-
Rae wouldn't tell me much about the guy or about what was really going on. Although it did irritate me, I wasn't going to push.
Now Tally was panicking about what dress to wear to Beltane.
"Help me." She wined.
"Your trying to hard, relax" Abigail told her. I laughed while laying on my bed on my stomach. A few minutes later there was a scratching sound at the window. Tally opened it and found a note with a flower made ring wrapped around it.
"It's from Gerit." Tally said. As she unrolled it slowly her eyes widened.
"He... he drew his..."
"There's no way he's that big." Abigail said dryly while peeking over Tally's shoulder.
"Abigail!" Tally hissed, snatching the paper out of Abigail's sight. "It's private." Abigail and I started laughing until Rae walked in. Then we were serious again. Tally jumped to Rae and wrapped her arms around her.
"What you did..." Tally said.
"Was nothing." Rae whispered. Her normally fire filled eyes felt dull, her smirk was gone. She was tired. Emotionally tired. She sat down on her bed.
"You good?" Abby asked. Tally was lifting dresses up to show Rae, asking which one to wear.
"Yeah I'm good. So, that's still happening?" She asked. "Just hope we dong have to dance aroun a pole with ribbons and sing "We all come from the Goddess." She mumbled.
"You say that because you don't understand the military." Bellweather argued.
"Oh Abigail, you know I love the military." She joked.
"Beltane is how we beat our enemies. How our unit gets strong. How our base heals." Bellweather went on.
"Oh my god spare me." It was fun watching the two go back and forth.
"But you'll be there, right? So the rest of us can partake?" Tally asked. "please." both Abigail and Tally started to pout together. Tally's head rested on Bellweather's shoulder.
"Listen." Abigail started.
"I heard you." Raelle told her.
"No look." She paused for a moment. "We are proud of you.
"Thanks." She smiled. "But, um, if my survival depends on Tally getting laid... she's gonna need a different dress." Tally's mouth gaped while we laughed.
"It's true." I agreed.
