"Omi, what took ya so long to answer?" Atsumu let out a huff as he slowly rocked back and forth on his bed, he'd called his boyfriend twice and on the last ring of the second try he picked up."Sorry 'Tsumu, I had to put some things away first." Sakusa sighed softly on the other end, but honestly, he was happy he could finally relax now.
"It's fine Omi, I was just playin' with ya." Atsumu smiled to himself, though not his usual smile.
Come to think of it, Sakusa could've sworn something in the dyed-blondes tone was off as well, which considering Atsumu's mindset was always a bit worrying.
"Mhm, everything okay Atsu?" Sakusa got straight to it, he knew something was up.
"Hm?" Atsumu paused for a moment, a little disappointed with himself that he'd been found out so easily. "Everythin's fine Omi, why do ya ask?"
"Your tone says otherwise, is it your team?" The team was always something Sakusa went to first.
"No, it's nothin'." Atsumu brushed it off, his tone rather dull, it definitely worried Sakusa.
"Atsumu," Sakusa paused. "We talked about this, if something's bothering you I want to know, I can't help if I don't."
Hearing this made Atsumu sigh, he knew Sakusa was right, they'd talked about this before, but he wasn't used to it yet.
"It's not that big of a deal Omi, I just miss ya is all." Atsumu couldn't deny it, with a good 6-7 hour distance between the two, it was a little difficult getting to see each other in person, especially with school.
"Well," Sakusa thought for a moment. "How about the next weekend we're both free, I'll drive down to see you. Hm?"
"Are ya sure? Yer usually busy with school an' practice on top of that." Atsumu would've gladly gone right to agreeing, but he couldn't do it if it meant taking Sakusa away from things he had to focus on.
"'Tsumu, it'd be a few days, I wouldn't be missing anything important." Sakusa sighed softly.
Sakusa knew damn well that Atsumu missed him, there'd been many 2am stress calls where Atsumu would call Sakusa in tears just because he missed him. Long distance wasn't exactly the easiest for the two, but they swore they'd make it work, and both never planned on breaking that.
"If ya say so, then I'd really like that." Atsumu's tone had fallen soft, a little quieter.
Sakusa already knew what was going on and it hurt, Atsumu was ready to cry, after spending so much time with the blonde Sakusa really picked up on a lot.
"Hey, Sugar, don't cry, it's gonna be okay." Sakusa did his best to reassure, he knew how much not being able to see one another bugged the blonde.
"Just think ahead to when we'll be with each other every day, even if it may not be for a while, we're going to get there, okay?"
Sakusa waited for a response and after a few minutes got one, Atsumu only took so long as he was trying, and unfortunately on his end, failing to muffle his crying.
"Okay.." Was the only thing Atsumu could manage before he fell silent again, for once he couldn't find the energy to speak.
"Hey 'Tsumu?" Sakusa piped up, getting an idea.
"Mhm..?" Atsumu mumbled barely above a whisper.
"How does a date night sound the next time I'm over? Picnic down by the beach, at our spot?" Sakusa knew the answer to this already but had to ask.
It was worth the ask as the small gasp that came from Atsumu meant it was a mood lightener.
"Yer sure 'bout this? I thought ya didn't like the beach 'cause of the people?" Atsumu's excited spike in energy came to a halt.
