As the war continues into the outer rim, the Separatists have become more brutal in their assaults. The planet Kithom is one of those planets invaded by the Separatists who seemed to have formed an alliance with the Growth to try and seize control of the planet's surface. Commander Thorn along with her battalion and the 232nd battalion led by Captain Ordarla had been sent to face them head on.
"Commander Thorn, what's your status?" General Milikas scatted brokenly over Rose's comms, the droids they were fighting kept on trying to jam their signal, along with the constant influx of Growth creatures it was difficult to try and maintain a good connection.
"We've sustained heavy losses General. Any word from the Republic yet?" Rose asked tired from the constant battles whilst she was ducked behind cover whilst lasers flew past her head.
"No word yet I'm afraid Commander. You're going to have to hold out for a little while longer." Milikas requested causing Rose to become enraged. Her battalion along with Captain Ordarla and the 232 battalion had held the same position for over a few weeks now and gained no ground. In fact, she was pretty sure that they had lost more men than ammo and even that was dwindling by the second. She wasn't too sure how much longer they could hold this position before a full retreat was needed to be called.
"Wait a little longer? We can't just sit here General! We need those reinforcements!" She shouted at the hologram rage filling her as she stared down at the flickering holo-projection.
General Milikas sighed softly as he ran a tired hand over his face understanding Rose's frustration. He had tried to get the Council to allow him to give the order of a full retreat, but they refused. They just had to hold on. "There is nothing we can do Commander, not until the Republic answer our distress call." General Milikas answered. "You're just going to need to hold out Commander." Milikas ordered with a sorrowful gaze. He had a bad feeling that this fight would be the Kithomen's best battalions last one.
"Yes General." She replied looking away not being able to stomach the look the General was giving her.
"I'm sorry Rose." General Milikas said solemnly to which Rose nodded her head before saying her goodbye and ending the call.
"Are they coming?" Captain Ordarla asked hope filling every word as he came and stood next to Rose. Sighing, she turned to face her old friend with a stressed expression
"Apparently not." Rose sigh as she rubbed her face in tired frustration. "The General's tried to order a retreat but the Council denied the order. We've just got to hold out." Rose explained as she looked at Captain Ordarla's tired face. Rose knew what needed to be done, at least one battalion needed to make it out of this battle alive.
"Well," Captain Ordarla said as they turned to look at the map of their home world. "I guess it's just us again." He joked causing Rose to chuckle slightly.
"It appears so my old friend." Rose said as she placed a hand on his shoulder plate. "I will send me and my troops to the south side of the cliffs." Rose gestured on the holo-map that they were currently surrounding. "That's where Captain Kella met the most resistance." She pointed out as she zoomed the holo-map in on the area she had pointed out. "You need to get everyone else back to the capital. Secure it and ensure there are enough beds for the wounded." Rose instructed fully laying out her battle plan before turning to look at Captain Ordarla's confused expression as he studied her plan.
"Rose, that's suicide and you know it." Captain Ordarla muttered as he looked over Rose's plan. "You don't have enough men." Captain Ordarla disagreed. "There must be another option, what about the caves?" Ordarla suggested as he zoomed in the holo-map on the caves near the cliff edge on the East side.
"Crawling with Growth and droids. Trigger and James scouted those caves out weeks ago, they're a definite no go." Rose muttered with a shake of her head. "We have no other choice. We need to hold the capital until the Republic send reinforcements." Rose said as she picked up her helmet.
"Are you sure?" Captain Ordarla asked as he looked at his old tired and beaten friend worried for her well-being.
At first, Rose said nothing as she analysed her plan in her head, trying to see if there was in fact another way out. She then sighed softly before shaking her head. "There's no other way." She muttered before looking at Captain Ordarla. "One of us needs to protect the Capital if they break through. My men are able to hold on longer here. Recall all of the 232nd Ordarla. Get out of here." She stated before walking away from the makeshift command centre.
"What's our orders systir?" Hyker asked as Rose joined them on the makeshift seats that they had made out of old creates.
"It's not something you're going to like Hyker." Rose replied as she brought up the hologram and zoomed it in to the South side of the cliffs that they were currently at.
"It never is." Hyker sighed as he gathered the men around the depiction of the plan.
"That's the south side." Smiles, the medic, pointed out gravely. "You're not suggesting we even attempt to do what I think you are about to suggest are you?" Smiles asked narrowing his gaze at Rose's smirking face.
"Well, that depends, Smiles." Rose smirked as she tilted her head slightly. "How mentally unstable do you think I am?" Rose rhetorically asked with a wink causing her men surrounding her to laugh slightly.
They all knew that this fight was going to be a rough one.
