"Do you think that we've gotten their attention yet?" Mik joked as another wave of Separatist droids started to swarm their position as they acted as the distraction for the infiltration teams to find and rescue Rose from the base.
"You know, now really isn't the time to start joking around." Ahsoka mentioned as she repelled another blaster bolt away with her lightsabre.
"Ignore him Ahsoka, he's mentally deficient." Smiles joked as he approached the right side of Ahsoka not noticing a Rathe coming up behind him.
Mik, immediately noticing the approaching Rathe, gripped a large knife which was strapped to his thigh and quickly threw it at the Rathe hitting it directly in the head killing it instantly. All fighting seemed to cease at that moment when the Rathe fell to the ground and Mik stood from his crouched position and jumped down from his high cover. Walking towards the pair he had just saved, Mik held a smug smirk on his face knowing that this was going to be something that Smiles would never hear the end of from this point on.
"If I was mentally deficient." Mik stated loudly as he approached the body of the Rathe he had just killed with his arms spread wide theatrically. "I would've missed." He grinned smugly as he gripped his knife and pulled it from the skull it recently resided in. Turning back around to face Ahsoka and Smiles, he shrugged his shoulders slightly whilst wiping off the Rathe's blood that had stuck to his knife.
"Do you always have to show off?" Smiles asked rolling his eyes slightly irritated by Mik's obvious gloating.
"Not always Bróðir, however on this occasion.." Mik trailed off slightly whilst smirking an obvious boastful smirk whilst sheathing his knife.
"Is it always like this?" Ashoka asked slightly worn down by the recent fight they had just endured.
At her question, both Mik and Smiles stopped their joking and looked down at the small Togruta.
Smiles placed a reassuring hand on Ahsoka's shoulder looking at her with slight sympathy. "I don't think it will be forever." Smiles said softly slightly grasping Ahsoka's shoulder. "At least I hope not for you."
"Why for me? Don't you both want an end to all of this fighting?" Ahsoka asked confused why Smiles had only specified an end to fighting for her.
"We don't have that luxury kid." Mik shrugged as he inspected the area in case another wave of droids and Growth decided to try their luck whilst the wounded were being treated.
Ahsoka looked at the pair puzzled, why do they think that they don't have a choice in the matter. "Do you not think you deserve peace?" Ahsoka asked confused by the reaction the two Austereans gave her.
"Our duty, as soldiers is to protect people. Whatever the cost." Mik stated as he turned to look directly at Ahsoka with no sense of doubt lacing any word he spoke.
Ahsoka furrowed her brow in thought at the words Mik had just recited. Did he really believe those words? And what did he mean by whatever the cost? However, before Ahsoka had the chance to question the Austereans further her comm started blinking indicating that someone was trying to contact her.
"Ahsoka, what's your position?" Anakin's static voice came through disrupting Ahsoka from her thoughts.
"South East of your position Master, we're clear here but we've got some wounded." Ahsoka replied as she watched some soldiers of Tack battalion drag some Growth minions into a fire pit as they tried to clear up the battleground.
"Good because Wolffe thinks he's found something. Send the wounded back to base, we need to push forward." Anakin mentioned briefly. "I'm sending you some co-ordinates can you meet us there?" He asked.
