Gianna's P.O.V
After you manage to stifle your sobs and blink the tears away, you straighten your dress, fix your hair and walk briskly down out of his room, and back to the party. You listen for the sounds of them arguing, things being broken, and take it as a good sign that you don't immediately hear them. It isn't until you get down near the kitchen you hear them arguing.
At least its not so loud that everyone outback can hear.
"I don't care, Jeremiah. I am going to see my daughter. I am fine"
"You're forgetting this is my house. Not yours. I want you to leave."
Helena moves to push past him and head for the sliding glass doors when he reaches for her arm, stopping her.
"You're really going to cause a scene at her party? Just leave. You claim you know whats best for them? Then prove it... and leave, Helena"
She glance down at his hand, and rips her arm away from him.
"You stopped being the reasonable adult here the moment you snuck away from your daughters party to get a quick fuck with her nanny"
She glances at him with disdain, and reaches for the sliding glass doors, ripping it open before yelling Rissa's name excitedly. Jeremiah presses his hand to his forehead, his chest rising and falling deeply as he takes a few sharp breaths. When you step further into the room, he whips around and if look could kill you'd be dead on the floor with the vexing expression he bores into your face.
"I understand i messed up. I didn't mean to upset you. I screwed up, okay?"
"You did more than mess up... you royally fucked things up, Gianna"
You frown, anger boiling inside you.
"Maybe if you and your ex-wife didnt have such a toxic fucking relationship to begin with, your daughter would be able to enjoy birthdays with both parents. You two are the ones who cant grow up enough to make sure the kids are happy"
"Should have been... instead, you went behind my back, and did something you had no fucking authority to do! You're not her parent, you're my employee. Thats all. You should know you're fucking place"
"I'm just an employee, huh?"
His omission stings. You widen your mouth, your tongue awkwardly moving around your bottom lip as you attempt to suppress tears. You firm your lips and shake your head. He doesn't answer you. Instead, he curses and stalks off away from the party.
I mean so little to him clearly. Glad to know where we stand.
You hate how your heart aches in your chest. You shouldn't be hurting this way. Not in such a short period of time, and definitely not for a man who basically just implied you were only good for a quick fuck and watching his kids... someone who even admitted everything was a mistake.
I should just leave then.. i uh, i need to get away from here.
You glance in the backyard, and sigh.
I cant just leave during her party, she would be heartbroken. No. I wont do that to her. I'll stay and then maybe when she's sleeping, I'll drive a couple hours back to my grandmothers and clear my head. Jeremiah will just have to deal with it.
