Episode 3: The Ex factor

Hey! Sorry guys I know this ones a little late but I had to write songs!!!!!  And screw with canon relationships lol so that took some doing. Buuut I did it! And I think it came out pretty decent, but that could just be me🤷‍♀️.  Idk,I'd love to hear yours thoughts on the songs and see your thoughts etc, etc.

Northumberland UK, 2021

"Are you hungry?" John asked just as Clarity came out of the bathroom. The punk rock music John had playing in the background, having muffled the sounds, but it had been pretty clear Clarity'd just about been puking her brains out. "I can cook."

"That's not funny, love." Clarity glitched through him with a frown settling herself down on the couch curling up on the edge of it hugging a pillow. "I don't want anything coming up again."

"I'm not talking a medium rare steak or a full three courses." John countered with a roll of his eyes sauntering over to her. He shifted her for a moment so he could slide in next to her and she could lean against his chest wrapping an arm around her, gingerly rubbing her arm as Clarity closed her eyes. The glitch leaning into his embrace snuggling into his chest. "Though I would make that for you if you were feeling better." John tapped her nose lightly with his pointer finger. "But since you're not," John hooked his fingers under her chin, thumb swiping lightly across her skin, fingertips brushing tenderly along her jaw. He pressed a kiss into her soft chestnut locks. "I'll whip you up something mild, Even just some soup if you don't want much. You should get something in you, Clarity."

"I don't want you to go through the trouble." Clarity denied opening her eyes playing with his tie. "I might just cough it up again."

"Alright, tell you what, I'll fish you some saltines out the cupboard, at least, in case you change your mind. This is the third time this week you're sicker than a dog. You've got to stop eating with Astra. It's sweet of you to want to bond with her. I do appreciate it, but dining hell style on rare steaks doesn't seem to agree with you, love."

"Mm." Clarity rubbed at her head, in truth there hadn't been anything about her meal that should warrant this reaction. As she heard the record skip in the background. That did not help her pounding head. "Which legendary punk band are we listening to right now? Bumbledicks or whatever?"

John couldn't help the laugh that escaped him at the butchered name. "They should've gone with that, but no they're the buzzes." John corrected with a wave of his finger twirling a lock of her hair around his finger admiring its silky quality being careful not to pull, letting it sift against her shoulder as it unwraveled from his pointer finger. "The buzzcocks. I suppose you were close. They're only one of England's seminal rock bands. Why do you ask?"

"The lyrics are killing my head, honey." Clarity replied. "You don't have to turn them off completely. Just down is fine. Band plays nice, lyrics leave much to be desired. It's two verses over and over and over and yes I have fallin in love with somebody I shouldn't have fallin in love with and fun fact he did make me feel like dirt for being a meta and he was a total dickhead. Don't worry, dead now though."

"Hope he's in hell. Don't read so much into the words searching for some deeper meaning. You won't find one. They had a good stanza and decided to run with it." John turned the volume down. "And besides great music is not just about the lyrics. It's about the buzz. The buzz of excitement that you get when you play something that's true and real." John sat back down beside her resting a hand on her chest over her heart.

"Sure, excitements nice," Clarity took his hand sliding their fingers together. "But it's fleeting. The buzz fades, it's just a moment that's gone in a blink. Words people resonate with, words stick. Words can last forever, reach through time and space, even exist across multiple earths, provided your a damn good lyricist of course."
