School was a nightmare. No, I take that back, getting out of bed was the nightmare. I never wanted to leave my mattress. Anyway, back to school. I never realized how much I had cut myself from my friends until I actually opened my eyes.

Easy going Alice was happy I was back to my normal self and gladly let me back in, but I could see doubt in the other's eyes. I felt horrible for doing that to them. I would have made up for it by hanging out with them after school or something, but then I would remember Lila was waiting at home for me. I ended up lying to them by saying I had homework just so I didn't have to go to where ever they were planning on going (I couldn't really concentrate on their plans).

Alice, of course, understood (gotta love her). Marcus was indifferent, but Erick and Honour were... I'm not sure how to explain it other than untrusting. It hurt of course, but I guess I kind of deserved it. It still bothered me, though.

After school, I pulled Alice aside. Her class was right next to mine so it wasn't hard to find her. She stopped and smiled at me, "How may I help you, good sir?"

I smiled, but only for a second. "About Honour and Erick..."

She sighed and looked up at me, "They're just worried, that's all. They'll come around once they see you really are yourself again. I wouldn't worry about it."

"Well, I worry," I said quietly, not really for the sake of argument.

She smiled a wide grin. "Good. Because if you didn't, than you wouldn't really be you, would you? Now, why were you acting so depressed? You missed the winter formal!"

I looked down at my feet, embaressed. Alice still didn't know the truth about Lila. "Lila's parents finally came back from vacation and took her back. I didn't talk to her at all until this weekend."

"Well, see her," Alice interrupted, shrugging. I smiled.

"Yeah."

Alice leaned over so her nose was nearly touching mine. I leaned back a little. "You know, the spring formal is coming up this Friday," She whispered with a huge grin. She leaned back and said in her regular, enthusiastic voice, "You should take Lila! She would love it! And I never got a picture of her. I need that picture, Koby, and I will get it." she winked.

I bit my lip, "I don't know, Alice..."

"Come on, Koby. It'll be fun! And it'll fix your problem with Honour and Erick! They'll see you're social again. It's a win-win! And Lila, Honour and I can all go dress shopping together!"

"Alice, slow down. I haven't even had time to think about it," I interuppted.

"Well, decide now because it takes forever to find a dress and we only have til Friday," she said. She tapped her foot to show her impatience.

I sighed, "Fine, I'll ask her, but no promises she'll want to go."

Alice laughed and hooked her arm in mine, "Lila is a girl. And a girly-girl from what I could tell. She'll want to go, trust me."

I simply shook my head and walked with her out the doors. I drove home, thinking about what I'd say to Lila when I got there. Sometimes, you had to hate Alice and her cursed persuasion tactics.
