If my life was a book, today would be three chapters long. When I opened my door, my room had been bombarded with Lila's bedsheets and pillows and... a cat? We don't have a cat. I looked at Lila, then back at the cat, then back to Lila. She smiled sweetly, asking if we could keep it. I shrugged. I would talk to my parents about later.

Lila took off my hoodie and laid on my bed. I sat down on the floor with my back against the side of my bed, my head close to hers. I sighed again before taking out my Algebra homework from my freshman math class. Lila took the pencil and answered the 12th question for me before handing it back.

The cat and the pencil were the only noise in the room. Lila messed with her blankets and the cat as I finished the homework that Lila knew all the answers to. When I was done putting it back in my bag, I simply leaned on the bed. Lila noticed I was finished and slid off the bed to sit next to me. I closed my eyes as she snuggled up next to me.

I must have fallen asleep like that because when I woke up, my Back was killing me and it was dark outside. I checked the time, it was almost 9. I looked at my door, still groggy, to find a piece of paper taped to it. I couldn't reach it because Lila was laying against my arm, but I could read it from here.

We went out for dinner with Isabel and Cole. We didn't want to wake you. Call us if you need anything or if you want us to bring something back for you. We love you. Be good.

I moved my shoulder; it was numb from Lila's weight. Lila moved and breathed what would seem like a moan if she ever used her voice. I gently pushed her off me to see if she would wake up. When she didn't, I picked her up bridal style and laid her on the bed so she wouldn't be sore when she woke up like I was. I pulled the covers over her shoulders and left to find food. My stomach growled as I thought about it.

I cooked a frozen pizza and brought it back to my room to watch TV. When I got back, Lila had moved to her side, but was still asleep. I turned on the TV to a TV show about a serial killer in everyday life. I sat on the end of the bed Indian style and ate my pizza. From where the TV was in my room, I was able to glance at Lila every once in a while and still watch the screen.

Lila didn't wake up until I was on the thirst episode of whatever I was watching. She yawned and stretched without a sound. She crawled over to me. I smiled and patted her head as she sat next to me with her legs to her side like she was wearing a skirt instead of shorts. She took a piece of my left over pizza and made a face when she found it was cold. I shrugged and she sighed, setting it back on the plate.

I gave her a water I had grabbed earlier and she smiled. It was gone as soon as she took it. These times with Lila were my favorite. No words, just a comfy atmosphere of nothing but the noise of the TV or a pencil or a cat (The cat had jumped back in from my window).

We stayed like that until half past midnight. The adults had ruined our beautiful silence around 11. Lila went to her room around 12:45. As soon as I started dozing off, I heard a knock on the door.

"Yeah?" I said sleepily, barely sitting up. Lila peeked her head in the doorway. She must have been scared again. I lifted the blanket as my invitation. She climbed under the sheets and settled onto her pillow.

I could barely see her in the dim light. Silence filled the room again and my eyes drifted shut again. I felt Lila shift so she was on her stomach and the pillow was on her arms, but under her head. I opened my eyes again to see her eyes gently close and her breath to become heavy. I wished I could fall asleep like her. She was so peaceful and fragile both in her sleep and awake. I sighed and turned over.

After a few minutes, Lila pressed her cheek between my shoulder blades. Her fists were against my back and her chest. I took a deep breath and let it out. I wondered if she knew she was doing this. With her, it wouldn't surprise me.

As selfish as it sounds, coming from me anyway, I was her everything. She didn't really seem to care about anything else. She clung to me for dear life, and I let her. Or maybe it was the other way around. Either way, we couldn't lose eachother. Nor did we want to.

That was what I fell asleep thinking, but I felt like that was about to change.
