Chapter 10

At school, I had my small group of friends who somewhat knew about Lila. When they all decided to surprise me at my house, I was a little worried. Luckily, Mom, Dad and Scarlet had went to the store. Lila, of course, didn't.

Marcus, Erick, Honour and Alice all decided today was a good day to have a get together. They brought snacks and sleeping bags and everything they needed to stay overnight. So you can imagine Lila's surprise when she opened the door.

"Hi!" I heard Alice say. I didn't know how Lila responded because by the time I got in the room, Alice was saying, "Well, who are you? We have the right house, right? Koby lives here?"

Lila nodded just as I came up behind her. "Hey, what are you guys doing here?" I asked.

Honour smiled at me. "We thought we could have a little party and since none of us have ever been over here, we thought we should include you," then she looked at Lila and her smile kind of dropped, "we didn't realize you already had company. Sorry, we should have called." She had looked away before apologizing.

Alice laughed, "Are you kidding? If we'd called, he would have refused to open the door! Now, are you going to let is in, or are you going to just stand there like an idiot?" Alice pushed her way in before I could answer. The others followed, their eyes looming over our house.

Alice was the outgoing one. She was the ginger with blue eyes (she liked to brag about being rare because of her hair and eye color combo). She was about 5'2" and all attitude. She moved here a year ago and decided to round up some random people and make them friends. She reminded me of my second godmother, Rachel. Oh, and fun fact, she hated all men but Erick, Marcus and I.

Erick was kind of second in command next to me. He was usually the class clown so Alice and I ended up tutoring him in different classes. That's how he ended up in our little group. He was a little shorter than me with brown eyes and dirty blonde hair.

Honour was the quiet, shy one. I think that's why I liked her so much. She reminded me of Lila. She was about Lila's hight, too (as to say she was a few inches shorter than Erick). She didn't look a thing like Lila, though. Their body types were extremely different and hair and eye color couldn't be any more off. Where Lila was tall, skinny and very flat chested, Honour was tall, very curvy (not fat, though) and... well, you get the point when I say curvy. Honour also had magenta eyes and dark, dark brown hair.

Marcus was alway the odd man out, that's why I liked him, too. He was the one always talking sports and videogames with Erick even though he was a gentle giant at 6'4 1/2". Secretly, though, he absolutely loved girly things. He was straight as a board, but he liked all that girly stuff. Don't ask me why. He had black hair and ocean-blue eyes. Now, he was carrying most of their stuff.

Lila looked at me, panicked. That was when Alice noticed her (she obviously noticed her before but now she really noticed her). "Oh, my, God. You are absolutely beautiful! Who are you?! This isn't fair! Koby! Introduce us! Now!"

"Hey, you're the one that barged in! You're lucky my sister isn't sleeping upstairs!" Lila laughed a little at this. "Anyway, since you so rudely just let yourself in, get out. Everyone else can stay."

Everyone but Lila laughed at this. Alice and I were always teasing each other. She was like my little sister in a lot of ways. Well, my second little sister now. It helped she was a freshman and I was a sophomore. After the laugh was over, I noticed how confused Lila was.

I simply said, "These are my friends from school. That's Alice," I pointed to her, "we're constantly teasing each other. That's Honour and Marcus. And you remember Erick, don't you?" I pointed to each one as I said their names. Lila nodded to the question about Erick. I had hoped she'd say no.

"Everyone, this is Lila. Her parents are family friends and she's staying with us while school is in session."

Alice's face lit up like a Christmas tree. "Are you that mute girl Koby is always talking about?! I've wanted to meet you for so long! Give me a hug!" Alice dropped her stuff and held out her arms. Just as Lila looked at her like she was crazy, I crossed my arms over her chest and pulled her back to me.

"Don't touch her, Lila. Her evil will rub off on you. I will protect you." Alice laughed like her head was going to explode. Marcus shook his head.

Erick stood in front of me and said, "Run, Koby! I'll cover you!" Lila struggled in my arms and Honour did nothing but watch. We were kind of like that the whole time until Mom and Dad got home with Scarlet.
