42- another dad story

Peter fixed something on his spidey suit that had been messing up his patrol nights, so he brought it with him to the tower.

"Oh, looks like we went a bit over curfew kid, time to go bud," Tony said, patting Peter on the back.

"Oh, ok," Peter replied looking up from his work.

Tony turned back to what he was doing as Peter looked back down at what he was doing.

"Uh, is it ok if I just leave this here?"

"I mean, sure," Tony said with a shrug, looking over at Peter, "you're not going patrolling tonight?"

Peter shook his head as he got up from his seat and slung his backpack over his shoulder.

"Nah, there's still a few things I have to fix,"

Tony nodded as he turned back to the hologram. "Ok well, bye kid, tell your aunt I said hi,"

"ok, bye dad," Peter's eyes widened as his hand clasped over his mouth when he realized what he said.

Tony snapped his head over to where Peter was, also realizing what he said.

"What did you just say?"

"Uh, uhm, n-nothing!" Peter exclaimed, panicked.

"Did you just call me dad?" Tony said, shocked.

"What? No! No, I said uh, my.. bad, my bad! I knocked off some uh- important things, off the table, so, uh, I- uhm, sorry, my bad!"

Peter let out an anxious laugh and ran out of the lab.

Tony looked at where Peter was standing.

There was nothing on the ground.

Tony had a small smile on his face as he turned back to what he was doing.

"Did you catch that Friday?"

"Yes, sir,"

Tony's smile widened when she said that.

"Put that footage in the Peter file,"

"of course sir," FRIDAY replied.

"And then I called him dad!" Peter cried to Ned who was looking at him gobsmacked.

"You called Tony Stark dad?"

"Yes! Oh my god, how am I ever gonna face him again!" Peter exclaimed.

"well, how did he react?" Ned asked, still shocked.

"I- I don't know, I left before I could see! He was just like- 'what did you call me?' And 'did you just call me dad'? Oh my god, I'm gonna die, I can't believe I said that, I can't believe I said that!" Peter replied in complete terror, shaking Ned by the shoulders.

"Dude, just calm down, you're way too worked up about this,"

"Yeah, yeah, yeah," Peter mumbled running his hand through his hair.

"Yeah, that's it, Pete, just chill, you're fine, alright?" Ned said, massaging Peter's shoulders.

"Oh my god, he's gonna kill me, I called him dad! How could I be so stupid!"

Tony sat back in his chair, looking over the footage in the Peter file.

'He called me dad,' he thought with a big, goofy smile on his face.

'The kid called me dad'

That was the happiest he'd been all day.

The kid saying 2 words had been the best part of his day.
